For The BEAUTY BLOGGER of the Month AWARD I was nominated by the lovely Tina from Tina Bytes and this award was created by the lovely Cecilia from Cecilia’s Corner who was the one to nominate me first. This is my most recent nomination so I decided to do this one.

Feel free to head to these lovely ladies blogs and search for rules and instructions, if you feel like doing any award.

The BEAUTY BLOGGER of the Month AWARD came with two winning prizes. The last day for entering the winning competition was yesterday, so I apologise for that inconvenient too. Consider this post your prize, if you like!

Participating in this award is easy and fun! Here are the rules:

1. You have been nominated and notified on one of your blog post! Recognise the nominator and give her some love back too.

2. Write a blog post with an image of the award above and answer 7 beauty related questions I have provided below. You can also customize the questions if you want to be more creative!

3. Don’t forget to link back to this page on your post and nominate 7 other awesome bloggers to receive next month’s Beauty Blogger award. Let them know that they’ve been nominated by commenting under one of their posts and provide a link of THIS ORIGINAL POST on the comment too to let them know about the rules and the giveaway!

4. After you’ve published your post, comment below this post that you have been nominated. All nominees should drop by and comment too as a way of letting me know you’ve entered. I will check all entries for the Beauty Blogger posts on their page.

The 7 beauty questions are:

1. Where does your makeup inspiration come from?

Mostly blogs, YouTube videos, and magazines.

2. What are 3 of your makeup Holy Grail products you cannot live without?

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ( reviewed here )

Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara

By Terry Hyaluronic-Hydra Powder ( reviewed here )

3. What is your makeup signature look which you have on most of the time?

The no-makeup look is my go-to look.

4. Let us know your favorite makeup brands?

Tom Ford, Dior, Guerlain, Chanel, By Terry, Burberry, Hourglass…

5. Your ultimate makeup pet peeve?

I hate foundations that do not match the rest of the skin and orange self-tanners!

6. You’ve heard about all the hype on this makeup item, bought it, tried it and don’t understand what all the fuss is about…Name that product!

The Caudalie Beauty Elixir! It has volatile oils and alcohol which will manage to irritate your skin no matter how healthy it is! And it smells horrendous too!

7. Concealer OR foundation ONLY for the rest of your life. Choose one and tell us the reason!

I will go for concealer since my skin is ok and I can easily go away with only using it and a bit of my By Terry Hyaluronic-Hydra Powder!

So this is it! I will nominate you all, my beautiful for this little award! But especially the lovely girls from TalkerBlogger

TheConscienceFund, SplischSplasch, avibrantday and V.

See you in August, beautiful! And Happy Summer!

xx, Annie

Summer of 2014 Bronzed, glowing, healthy summer Tip #11: Hand care – with Dior and Chanel

chanel, Chanel #307 Orange Fizz, dior, DIor Abricot Gentle Nail Polish Remover, Dior Abricot Oil, Dior Base Coat Abricot, nail care, summer 2014

I can not believe this is the last post of the Summer of 2014 Series. First of all, I would like to thank you all beautiful, for your support and for the time you took to read and comment on each and every single post of this Series. Your lovely feedback took me to this point, where I am writing this final Tip of the Series: the Summer of 2014 Bronzed, glowing, healthy summer Tip#11: Hand care with Dior and Chanel.

photo 1

I am going to take you through every step of my nail care routine. This is how I usually do my nails all year round, what make is it summery is the bright-coloured nail polish I used to paint my nails.

So let’s begin!

STEP #1 is to make sure I have everything I need in one place. I used: Dior Huile Abricot Daily Nutritive Serum, Dior Dissolvant Abricot, Dior Base Coat Abricot, Chanel #307 Orange Fizz nail polish. I also make sure to have a towel, some wood sticks to remove the cuticles and to clean my nails and some large cotton pads.

STEP #2 is to remove my old nail polish. ( The one in the picture is another favourite of mine from Dior, #754 Pandore. Amazing! ) I use the Dior Abricot Gentle Nail Polish Remover on a large cotton pad. This is a gentle disolvant which smells like apricots and it is so effective that I do all my nails with just one cotton pad soaked in it. It has no damaging effect on my nails ( not making them yellow or dies them ).

photo 2

STEP #3. What I like to do after removing my nail polish is to go on with applying a cuticle oil to moisturize my cuticles. That makes them easier to work with. The one I use right now is Dior’s Huile Abricot.

Cuticle oils are a fairly recent discovery for me! I used to be the one to cut my cuticles with a cuticle scissors almost all my life. So they became very big and dry, if that makes sense. I gave up on cutting them a few months ago, and used plenty of cuticle oils. But the one that helped me the most was coconut oil. It made them smaller and easier to work with.

photo 5

Now that my cuticle oil worked its magic, I take a wooden stick and push them. Then I clean the excess skin from the nails with the other side of the stick. The wooden stick is more gentle than that metallic device and does not harm the nail. Then I go in with my glass file from Art Deco to shape my nails. Sometimes I use a clipper too, but the glass file does an amazing job! This would be STEP #4.

Fotor0728134453

STEP #5 is to paint my nails. Because Chanel nail polishes have the bad habit of chipping the same day you apply them ( at least on me they chip like crazy! ), I like to apply a base coat to make the colour last longer. Here I applied one coat of the Dior Base Coat Abricot, an amazing base coat that not only protects the nails but it also evens out their surface, filling all those ugly, uneven ridges.

Once the base dried, I applied this bright orange Chanel nail polish, in #307 Orange Fizz. I love this colour for summer. It is not a secret that Chanel always comes out with amazing nail polish colours, which apply smoothly on the nails and go opaque in just 2 coats. But in terms of lasting power – let’s say they are not the best!

Fotor0728134240

And I am done! This is the final result! One last thing I like to do is to moisturize my hands with a lightweight hand cream and apply once more that Dior Apricot Serum!

How do you take care of your nails?

See you soon, beautiful!

WARNING! NOT your usual beauty post! SMILING SHOES – My kind of Dorothy shoes!

hand made, made in Romania, red, Smiling Shoes, Sorbetto SS 2014 Collection, stiletto shoes

FAIR WARNING! THIS IS NOT YOUR USUAL BEAUTY POST!

Now, let’s get real! I do not do fashion on this blog! Don’t get me wrong! I do love clothes… and bags… and shoes… But I am not at that level where to be interested in combining them so effortlessly the way so many talented fashion bloggers already do it so well! Many are still trying though Full STOP!

But this time I really had to!

photo_1

When I first saw this gorgeous pair of shoes on the Smiling Shoes website, a fashion-related blog post was mandatory! Plus, I made a promise and this is me keeping it!

And I am proud to tell you that Smiling Shoes is actually a Romanian brand brought to life by two lovely young sisters, Luiza şi Corina Naduh. This two talented ladies decided to bring to another level their father’s little shoes atelier, placed in the small historical town of Târgovişte. The bussiness existed from 1994 and produced men shoes exclusively. Luiza and Corina decided to move to Bucharest instead and to pay more attention to what the market needed in terms of shoes. Then, in 2007 the first Smiling Shoes Collection was launched. And the rest is history! Now they have many collaborations with Romanian designers and their shoes are always featured in pictorials for the most known Romanian glossy magazines.

My choice is from their newest SORBETTO SS 2014 Collection, still available online.

photo_3

Red leather, 9 mm, classic stilettos with open back, hand made with the softest and comfortable leather! They are the upgraded version of Dorothy’s magic shoes!

Fotor0725140952

– glam up your boring work outfit with some daring shoes!

No one knows where the Yellow Brick Road took Dorothy when she grew up, right?!* Just saying!!!

What do you think? Tell me in the Comment section!

See you soon, beautiful!

Christian Louboutin, Louboutin Beauté, news, red lipstick, red nail polish, red sole

This is definitely the summer of the big launches! And when I say big, I mean really BIG beauty lines launches!

I have noticed lately that all the big fashion houses ( see details about the new Gucci makeup line here ) release a beauty line. Now it is Christian Louboutin‘s turn to come on the beauty market with a beauty product line called – what else than Louboutin Beauté, which will clearly have the grand maître’s unique mark on.

051112-christian-louboutin-makeup-340

Of course, the main focus is going to be around the iconic Louboutin RED we can see on the sole of his shoes.

For now we have a launch of a RED nail polish, in the shade Rouge Louboutin, available already on pre-order on Saks Fifth Avenue‘s, Nordstrom‘s Bergdorf Goodman‘s websites and, of course, on Louboutin‘s official website.

But rumors say that a few shades of RED lipstick are going to be released pretty soon.

beauty2_170512044113

The retail price for the the nail polish is 50 $. US dollars that is!

What else can we say?! Welcome to the makeup world, Monsieur Louboutin!

So what do you guys think? Is the Louboutin red going to be THE RED for you?

See you soon, beautiful!

Summer of 2014 Bronzed, glowing, healthy summer Tip #10: My Top 5 Lip Products for Summer: Dior, Clarins, Shiseido

23 Wednesday Jul 2014

clarins, dior, lip balm, lip gloss, lipstick, review, Shiseido, SPF, summer 2014

Even if I am not the type of girl to wear lip gloss and “sparkles” on my lips all year round, during the bright summer days I find myself reaching for sheer lipsticks and glosses most of the time.

What better opportunity to wear a glossy lip if not in summer, when you have the chance to make those sparkles look so good in the sunlight!

I am a lip products fanatic – no surprise there! – so before I decided to upload this post my lip picks have changed again and again… And again!!!… So, because of the amount of lipsticks, and glosses, and lip balms was bigger and bigger I had to cut it off to a Top 5, otherwise my word count would have gone nuts!

Here you have My Top 5 Lip Products for the Summer of 2014!

photo 1

1. As you might have red in a previous post, using SPF on my lips is equally important as wearing it on my skin ( read what I use to protect my skin here ). My lip product of choice is the Shiseido Sun Protection Lip Treatment SPF 20 UVA. It is a white lip balm which protects your lips and hydrates at the same time. When you apply it you will see a white cast on your lips but when it absorbs it disappears and your lips are ready for lipstick and protected ( read a proper review here ).

2. I do not go anywhere without my Dior Addict Lip Glow! It is a permanent item in my purse and I carry it with me everywhere I go. You all know this product, I’m sure of that! It is a lip balm which helps enhance the colour of your lips while nourishing them! With the Lip Glow on my lips have a beautiful, natural and healthy rosy tint! Chemistry is magic, don’t you think?!

photo 2

3. God, I love my next pick! It is another Dior product, this time a proper gloss: the Dior Addict Gloss in #643 Diablotine. This is the lip gloss everyone should have in their makeup collection and to use during summer. It is a bright peachy coral in the tube but on my lips it shows more on the pink/red side. It is quite sheer as you can see from the swatch and it has the most amazing gold glitters, which in the sunlight will give such a natural brightness to your lips.

4. This next product is simply amazing! I have tried to keep myself away from it for the longest time! But when I finally caved in and bought the first one I knew that it will be the beginning of a new and unhealthy addiction ( I now have 3 and need at least 3 more! ). I am talking about the new Dior Addict Fluid Sticks line, and the one I have here is in the gorgeous color #373 Rieuse. It is the perfect peachy pink lipstick but it has the brightness of a gloss. In fact this is a new formula, a hybrid between a lipstick and a gloss which will give your lips an instant lift, making them glossy and plumped, and sensual. I will write a review on all the Dior Fluid Stick I own soon!

photo 4.1

Swatches L-R: Shiseido Sun Protection Lip Treatment, Dior Addict Lip Glow, Dior Addict Gloss #643 Diablotine, Dior addict Fluid Stick #373 Rieuse, Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector #6 Rosewood Shimmer.

5. My last pick is an all-year-rounder! The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in #6 Rosewood Shimmer. It is maybe my most used product this summer, next to my Shiseido SPF lip balm and my Dior Lip Glow! I also have a full review on it here.

As you can see my favourites for this summer are brighter colours, glossy/shiny finishes and liquis textures. SPF and hydration is a must too!

Please share yours? *always on a hunt for new lipstick or lip gloss… lip everything

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie

Makeup look by Peter Philips with DIOR’s NEW releases, for the Couture A/W 2014/15 Collection

21 Monday Jul 2014

In my previous post I told you all you needed to know about the concept behind the makeup look Monsieur Peter Philips – the new Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup created for Dior Couture A/W 2014-2015 Collection.

dior_hcfw15_1459_article_gallery_portrait

Here you have the products he used to bring to life this concept.

He started by applying the Dior Diorskin Star Foundation ( read full post about its release here ) to perfect the skin, and on drier complexions he preferred the Capture Totale.

For blush, he applied a touch of Dior Blush in #881 Rose Corolle and to highlight he used another blush in #421 Starlight – available internationally in October.

Untitled5

For the natural, soft eye he used the pastel shades: the white and the yellow from the forthcoming Candy Choc  from Dior Fall 2014 5 Couleurs Palette, the Clashing Shock Harmony collection, available from 3rd September. He then added a bit of white kohl crayon in the waterline to soften the look even more.

Untitled4 – the new Dior Fall 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in Candy Choc

On top of that the added the contrasting graphic element, the mirror eyeliner.

Untitled3

He did not wanted for the lip to steal the attention from the eyes, so he used #123 Trompe L’Oeil from the Dior Nude Lipstick Collection to neutralize the natural pigmentation of the lips.

The nails were short and nude, with only one coat of gel polish in #108 Muguet ( my favourite nude at the moment too! link to my Instagram photo wearing Muguet, here )

And this is the look he achieved: natural eyes with a statement eyeliner and defined brows to balance the look.

b234d909e58f20c8b2c471ddb8cda387

One particularity of this look is what Peter Philips called the “empty eye”. What he meant by that is he DID NOT applied mascara on the lashes! Like this the main focus is exclusively on the mirror eyeliner.

So, did you took notes? Have you “enriched” your wish list? I sure have added a few items to my never ending one!

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie

Dior couture Autumn-Winter 2014/2015 fashion show – New Eyeliner proposal

dior, Dior couture Autumn-Winter 2014-15, Dior Fall 2014 5 Couleurs Palette, dior new makeup releases, mirrored eyeliner, Peter Philips

Do you remember Monsieur Peter Philips? Do you remember my previous post about the divergent liner?

Untitled

The divergent liner was Peter Philips’s – the new Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, proposal for Summer of 2014! Read full post here.

For the Dior Couture A/W 2014/2015 fashion show he came out with a new idea of eye liner. A graphic, futuristic, mirrored eyeliner to contrast with the historic elements of the collection and the fragility of the decor made entirely of white orchids, white podium, lights and mirrors – an ethereal atmosphere.

Untitled2 1-dior-R1

The mirrored eyeliner was the only graphic element which was really stood up against the rest of the makeup, the face of the models being pure and natural. His intention was again to create an impact in the same way the items of the couture collection create an impact by how they were reinterpreted. You should know that the whole Dior Couture Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 Collection was centered around Marie Antoinette’s wardrobe and that époque in general, combined with the modern elements of the twentieth century.

Untitled1

To create this look Peter Philips went for a natural, soft look: pastel colours on the “empty eye“, nude lips, a natural blusher and a bit of highlighter. More details on this look and the products he used on my next post ( link here )!

In the meanwhile, what do you think about this eye look? Would you wear it? I am already looking for products to recreate it for an event I have to participate next week!

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie!

Summer of 2014 Bronzed, glowing, healthy summer Tip #9: Eye look By Terry Ombre Blackstar and Dior Diorshow Fusion Mono

photo 1

To go along with the bronzed, glowing, healthy look this summer I took out from my makeup drawers the bronzy, shimmery eye products.

My favourites so far have been the By Terry Ombre Blackstar Colour-Fix Eye Shadows. In the picture below you can see my most used 3 shades : the lightest is #3 Blond Opal, the more golden one is #11 Beyond Gold and the darkest one, my all-time favourite, is #5 Misty Rock.

photo 2

I simply adore this practical pen format because it is so easy to use. A swipe or two of one of these melting eye shadows and their “tattoo-hold” stretch texture will blend evenly onto your eyelids, creating the most amazing radiance-lift reshaping film.

To blend the colour you have to work fast with your blending brush, because once it sets it will not budge the whole day. They are the most waterproof eye shadows in my entire makeup collection!

photo 3

The other eye shadows I love to use during the summer days are the Dior Diorshow Fusion Mono Long-Wear Eye Shadow. In the picture you can see two amazing shades: #001 Lune – a white-ish colour with a hint of gold and #661 Météore – a beautiful warm, bronzy colour.

There is a particular look I like to create using these two. I take some #661 Météore either on my finger or on the little sponge applicator they come with and then apply it all-over my mobile lid, then blend it with my Hakuhodo J142 blending brush. With my Tom Ford #14 Smokey Eye Brush I take a bit of that same eye shadow on the lower lash line, to open up the eye. Then I place some #001 Lune on my tear duct and on my brow bone too. A bit of black kohl for fuller lashes and lots of mascara, and that is it! Nothing fancy! But the final result is so effortlessly chic and summery, the definition of the “Goddess” look.

These Dior eye shadows are very similar to my Chanel Illusion d’Ombres, but I find them to be more long-lasting on my eyelids even without a primer. That is maybe because they are less creamier than the Chanel ones. But they blend equally well and they are not as glittery, which I personally like more.

Here you have some swatches of these beautiful eye shadows:

photo 5 – outdoors, direct sunlight

photo 4 – indoors

L-R: By Terry #5 Misty Rock, #11 Beyond Gold and #3 Blond Opal and Dior Diorshow Fusion Mono #001 Lune and #661 Météore.

What are your favourite eye shadows this summer?

See you soon, beautiful!

Summer of 2014 – Bronzed, glowing, healthy summer Tip #8 Flushed Cheeks: Tom Ford Cheek Colours

17 Thursday Jul 2014

Tags

cheek colour blushes, Flush, Frantic Pink, review, summer 2014, swatches, Tom Ford

photo_5

The right blush can do so much for your face! Especially during summer when symmetrical, sculpted cheekbones are vital to create the “Goddess” look.

The Tom Ford sumptuous powder blushes deliver layers of possibility, from a sexy subtle glow to a more colorful, dramatic look. “Formulated with spherical pearls and rich emollients, they glide onto skin with the comfort of a cream, achieving outstanding luminosity and a velvety transparency”. They are the epitome of luxury and sexiness overload – mark of the Tom Ford brand!

photo 1

The Tom Ford Cheek Colour in #02 Frantic Pink has fed my pink blush addiction for the last few months. It is the blush with the most sophisticated finish, texture and colour from my entire, not that large, pink blushes collection.

I can describe it as a very soft whisper of pink with a hint of peach which adds a gorgeous sheen on the skin. Yes, there is subtle glitter in the pan but it rather translates as a shimmer on the skin. To my surprise I found out that the initial pink pigment changes its intensity and colour a bit when layered onto my foundation, the result being a warm peach with some rosy undertones, completed with a refined glow! I love it even more!

photo_2

The Tom Ford Cheek Colour in #03 Flush is a vibrant peachy powder blush with coral undertones mixed with some finely mild coral shimmers in it. The shimmers are so subtle that stick tightly to the pigment, for glowy coral coloured cheeks rather than sparkly.

It’s one of those colours that instantly brighten up my skin tone. An elegant, buildable colour!  The blush blends seamlessly and effortlessly into my skin, producing a glowing, second-skin layer, clearly because the powder is so silky-smooth.

photo. – check out those shimmers, how they glisten in the sunlight!

Overall impressions: – the highly pigmented Tom Ford blushes perform best when applied with a smaller duo fiber brush, since you only need the tiniest amount of product and blend it really well – gorgeous bright almost neon colours – subtle sheen that it will not accentuate pores/imperfections – good staying powder – I still can see it on my cheeks by the end of the day – wonderfully chic, elegant and sturdy packaging I find these blushes so versatile! No matter what eye makeup or lip colour I wear, they seem to work just fine.

And the luxurious feeling of these blushes on my skin is worth all the money I payed for them. I already have my mind on a few more colours! Ooppsss!…

See you soon, beautiful!

Summer of 2014 Bronzed, glowing, healthy summer Tip #7: BB Creams Diorskin Nude and Burberry Fresh Glow

15 Tuesday Jul 2014

Burberry, Burberry Fresh Glow B.B. Cream, dior, Dior Nude BB Cream, review, summer 2014

photo 5

Here we are to Tip #7 of the Summer of 2014 series! Thank you so much guys for your support and the time you take to read my rambles!

I couldn’t wait to be able to write this post and to share with you beautiful, my thoughts on this two makeup bases I will use this summer. One of them is a new favourite I had for over 3 weeks now. Can you guess which one is it?

You are right! It is the newest Burberry release – the Fresh Glow B.B. Cream!

Now, I am not a fan of heavy foundations at all! I was blessed with relatively good skin so I do not need to cover much. That is why, for me, BB creams work amazing all year round but especially during summer. BB creams are in fact beauty balms. A mix of skincare and makeup in order to accentuate a fresh complexion and to leave you with an astoundingly natural finish. They correct transparency, lighten skin up with a fresh glow, gently hydrate, instantly smooth, and offer a day after day protection.

photo 1

The Dior Diorskin Nude BB Crème was basically a Lisa Eldridge enabled purchase ( no surprise there, right?! ), confirmed several times by another lovely beauty blogger and youtuber, Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup.

It is described as a “multifunctional beauty balm that creates a lustrous, flawless finish” that at the same time provides the benefits of skincare and makeup, in a fresh, airy formula: which makes it the new generation of complexion enhancers.

The texture is light, enriched with natural origin skin care ingredients ( mineralized floral water and a blend of antioxidants ) to melt onto the skin, to conceal only the unwanted flaws and to moisturize it, smooth, protect and correct it for a sheer coverage.

The finish is on the natural side which I pretty much enjoy. It is not too dewy, not too matte. In fact, I have to admit that I find this one to be more matte than many BB creams I have tried.

Overall, the Dior Diorskin BB Cream is a light to medium coverage base amazing during hot summers, also because it is formulated with SPF 10.

I have mine in the lightest shade #001 Light and I am using it all year round – in colder months with a bit of powder to set it and during summer with some bronzer on.

The Diorskin Nude BB Cream also comes in a Tan version that I have yet to try.

photo 3

The other BB cream I wanted to tell you about is the new Burberry Fresh Glow B.B. Cream. I blogged about its release along with some other new amazing Burberry products over a month ago. ( read full post here )

It is described as a “skin perfecting beauty balm” which will give you the aspect of a fresh, healthy-looking, glowing, youthful complexion. “The light-diffusing complex instantly helps enhance skin luminosity and tone, while skin-matched colour pigments give a harmonised, natural-looking finish”, they say on their website and now that I have used it for almost a month, I can confirm that they are right.

Since we are deep into summer, I thought it would be better for me to buy shade #01 Fair one of the three shades targeted towards Caucasian skin types, which are darker than Asian ones. This shades of the Fresh Glow B.B. Cream have an SPF of 20 when the last two shades are specially formulated in suitable shades for Asian skin, with a SPF of 30 PA+++ to shield against UVA and UVB rays. But I really consider to buy myself another one because I really think with my skin type I can make work an Asian targeted shade too, and to use the one I already own exclusively during the summer.

The formula is amazing: lightweight and breathable! It will give you sheer coverage, buildable to medium ( with a beauty blender or just fingers ) for a healthy, natural glowing look.

The signature Burberry scent: rosehip, tea and lavender extracts, is not overpowering or irritating, even for sensitive skins.

So, these two will be my makeup base companions for the Summer of 2014! Which ones are yours?

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie
