Paula’s Choice is a brand I never had access to until recently. But the reviews I got the chance to see and read online were amazing!
A natural, organic skincare line suitable for all skin types and able to gently take care of every skin problem, well… I had to try it! My skin is pretty good at the moment, no major break ups, a bit of irritation and redness and the dullness characteristic to the transitional season period, was something I learnt to live with throughout the years… I just switch my skincare routine to a more nourishing one and I’m good!
So when I discovered that Paula’s Choice was available for purchase in my country, I thought I should give it a try! And I was not disappointed!
I was on a hunt for a good moisturizer for the colder seasons, so I ordered the Resist Barrier Repair Moisurizer with Retinol.
This moisturizer contains a specialized complex of ingredients proven to remodel aging skin, bringing it to a healthier, more youthful state-really. The formula is packed with ingredients that work to build and preserve collagen ( you know aging is not the funniest of processes ), prevent moisture loss ( which I completely needed ), restore essential ingredients to protect skin’s barrier function, and reduce inflammation with potent antioxidants. It suitable for all skin types and targeted towards aging and Rosacea.
More points from me because this moisturizer also doubles as an eye cream. So, one step minus in my skin care routine? Yes, please!
It is a light moisturizer which absorbs extremely well, leaving the skin extremely soft, fresher and the aspect of the fine lines around my eyes seem diminished. Even if people shy away from products containing retinol, the retinol in it is not irritating my sensitive skin at all. I use it as a part of my daily skin care routine, under my usual SPF, and because it absorbs in a couple of seconds it acts as a great primer too, and makes makeup application easier.
Here you have the complete list of Ingredients:
Overall, I am pleased of how this product makes my skin feel and I will definitely keep using it!
Have you tried any Paula’s Choice product? What else should I try next?
See you soon, beautiful!
xx, Annie

Paula Begoun is amazing! She has life changing reviews on all the beauty products out there, helps you understand the ingredients every product is made of and her skin care range is targeted to every skin issue you can imagine! No parabens, no colorants, no fragrance and cruelty free!
Ah! She was nicknamed the US “cosmetic cop” LOL
Anyway I’ve learned a lot about skin care from her blog! 🙂 xx

I love Paula Begoun’s website Beautypedia. Whenever I wanted to read a review of a specific skin care product, I ended up on her site and that’s how I learned not to trust any marketing and promotion trick of the cosmetic industry. I fully trust her reviews of all the brands and never buy a skin care product anymore without first checking out the reviews on her site. I’m a bit obessed with Beautipedia, I think 🙂
Anyway, that’s how I discovered Paula’s Choice Products this year. I currently use the Hydralight Moisturizer, but I want to try some other products too – like the Resist intensive serum, the Resist Ultra Light Moisturizer and the product you just reviewed here. I am glad that you are happy with it.
But do you think it would be too heavy for my skin? I have combination skin (oily T zone and dry to normal cheeks).
I have written to Paula’s Choice and they recommended this product to me and other reviewers with combination skin were happy with it. But I am still a little afraid that it will break me out if it’s too moisturizing.
Take care,
Andreea

This moisturizer I have tried it’s not “heavy” at all. It’s lightweight and it absorbs completely into the skin in a matter of seconds! I’ve been using it in the mornings for the past couple of weeks and I didn’t experienced not even one break out! To form a first opinion for me it take no longer than 3/4 days anyway…
During this period my skin tends to get oilier in the T-zone and dryer and sensitive especially on the cheeks and I can see this moisurizer helped me with that! And with the inherent rosacea too…
I wouldn’t recommend it in the summer though! I think it would be a bit too hydrating and nourishing! But for autumn and winter it’s a great option!
I hope my little ramble written from under my desk at the office was somewhat coherent and helpful! 😀 xx

I’m very pleased to read that you are enjoying the RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer! I’ve used it also and think it’s wonderful. Just today, I received my long-awaited Skin Recovery Moisturizer- it’s been out of stock for awhile. It leaves my skin totally hydrated, smooth, satin-like with ZERO greasiness. Wonderful underneath makeup. It’s perfect! I use several other Paula’s Choice treatment products every day, so I like my moisturizer to be kind of basic and reliable. My morning and evening regimens are a bit elaborate- you’d probably laugh at me!
Thinking about what I think you should try next… I am SO impressed with the Hydralight Cleanser. It’s a hydrating, light and clear non-lathering gel cleanser that rinses clean and leaves skin soft and moist. I’ve been looking for a cleanser just like it for years and finally stumbled on the perfect one. Also, perhaps you might enjoy trying a trial-sized C15 Booster. You just add two or three drops into your serum and mix in the palm of your hand, then apply. It has vitamin C, ferulic acid and more– fading dark spots and discolorations quickly. It also smooths out and refines the texture of skin. As a “booster”, it is meant to enhance the effectiveness of other products and supercharges it with vitamins to brighten the complexion. This type of product is growing popular in the US. This one is a new favorite Paula’s Choice product of mine, and ! I’ll be getting the full size soon.
I actually used to be a paying subscriber to Beautypedia.com several years ago– it wasn’t always free! Though when it did become free, Paula refunded everyone’s money who had subscribed that year. She’s a good egg. 🙂 Honestly, if it was still something that I had to pay for, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Hi Carrie! Thank you so much for your recommendations! I’m always looking for a new good cleanser to try! 🙂 And the C15 Booster was already on my wish list but I was waiting to read more on it! I’m glad you liked it too! A brighter, smoother face clearly sounds amazing!
I had no idea Beautypedia wasn’t always free. I would’ve gladly paid a subscription myself! Paula Begoun’s work is amazing and I would’ve been proud if with the little amount of money from that subscription I could’ve helped her research! Refundig all of you shows she’s a great character and a beautiful soul!
Have a great Sunday and I hope to see you soon with more amazing recommendations!

I’m completely hooked on Paula’s Choice skincare. I can’t even remember how I found it, but the two products I’ve repurchased again and again are the Skin Recovery Moisturizer (perfect for dry, dehydrated skin and doesn’t break me out) and the 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant (supposed to be good for all skin types, I like it for my drier acne prone skin). The moisturizer I’ve repurchased in almost double digit quantities, but the liquid exfoliant lasts many months even with how much I use it. I honestly can’t say enough good things about them, and I love that she makes the research behind her products so readily available. It’s on my to do list to post reviews on each if you’d like to keep an eye out 🙂

I was lusting after her products for quite some time but I wasn’t able to get them where I live. I always check her website for a good read too! OH, and I will definitely treat myself with some more of her skin care!
I became addicted in such a short time! Not healthy! LOL
Thank you for stopping by! See you soon lovely! 🙂
