The juxtaposition of iconic styles from different decades was the concept Raf Simons – the creative director at Christian Dior used in his latest Spring/Summer 2015 Couture Collection to create a new, modern look maintaining the classic “Dior style”.

So we have the romance of the ’50, the experiment from the ’60 and the freedom, craziness and sexuality from the ’70 peeping out throughout the entire collection, everything put together in a psychedelic universe.

For this presentation the look Peter Philips – the creative and image director of Christian Dior Makeup, who’s work I adore, came out with a “very pure look” meant to emphasis the natural beauty of the models Raf Simons chose precisely for their strong, beautiful, distinctive features.

He took inspiration mainly from the concept of Raf Simons’ collection, but also from iconic photography and music characters like Veruscka and David Bowie.

The makeup used was more than basic, not “to steal” much from the beauty of the models or from the creations they wore on the catwalk. Maybe that’s the main reason why it made me resonate so much!…

For a flawless complexion Peter Philips worked with the new Dior Nude Air Serum Foundation, which I already blogged about here. To finish and to set everything in place, he used the also new Dior Nude Air Loose Powder, mainly in the center of the face.

For the eye makeup he used a new product ( already available exclusively on dior.com  for now ), called The Eye Reviver Illuminating Neutrals Eye Palette, in shade #001, Dior‘s first illuminating palette to brighten the eyes with an instant radiance-boosting effect.

It is a very basic palette, with only a few essential nude colours –  one powder primer, 4 neutral eyeshadows and one cake liner. Peter Philips used the prime colour called Clair, as a base all-over the lid. Then he used the shade in the middle of the palette, another neutral to define the lid and to create the effect of a light tint of colour, like a “cloud” under the eyebrows. And with a darker, but still neutral shade he defined the crease.

He obtained a neutral look without giving the impression that any makeup was used to achieve it!

Of course, NO mascara was used in this presentation, as he already had us used from the previous collections ( see here , here and here ), but this time he thoroughly curved the lashes to open up the eyes and create a fresher look.

To conceal any imperfections he used the Dior Airflash Concealer.

On the cheeks he used the Dior Diorblush #536 Peach Splendor, from the recently released S/S 2015 Kingdom of Colours Collection ( which I already talked about in a post here ).

To finish the look, he simply applied the Dior Lip Maximizer to give the lips a gorgeous natural shine.

This means “pure beauty” in Peter Philips and Raf Simons’ vision of the “haute couture femme“, who even if she had touches of colours on her eyes and cheeks she has not the air of a woman wearing makeup.

For the Dior S/S 2015 Haute Couture presentation, women had “l’air d’être belles, simplement belles“, said Peter Philips!

See you soon, mes belles!

xx, Annie
