The juxtaposition of iconic styles from different decades was the concept Raf Simons – the creative director at Christian Dior used in his latest Spring/Summer 2015 Couture Collection to create a new, modern look maintaining the classic “Dior style”.
So we have the romance of the ’50, the experiment from the ’60 and the freedom, craziness and sexuality from the ’70 peeping out throughout the entire collection, everything put together in a psychedelic universe.
For this presentation the look Peter Philips – the creative and image director of Christian Dior Makeup, who’s work I adore, came out with a “very pure look” meant to emphasis the natural beauty of the models Raf Simons chose precisely for their strong, beautiful, distinctive features.
He took inspiration mainly from the concept of Raf Simons’ collection, but also from iconic photography and music characters like Veruscka and David Bowie.
The makeup used was more than basic, not “to steal” much from the beauty of the models or from the creations they wore on the catwalk. Maybe that’s the main reason why it made me resonate so much!…
For a flawless complexion Peter Philips worked with the new Dior Nude Air Serum Foundation, which I already blogged about here. To finish and to set everything in place, he used the also new Dior Nude Air Loose Powder, mainly in the center of the face.
For the eye makeup he used a new product ( already available exclusively on dior.com for now ), called The Eye Reviver Illuminating Neutrals Eye Palette, in shade #001, Dior‘s first illuminating palette to brighten the eyes with an instant radiance-boosting effect.
– here you have a closer, clearer look at the gorgeous The Eye Reviver as seen on Dior’s website
It is a very basic palette, with only a few essential nude colours – one powder primer, 4 neutral eyeshadows and one cake liner. Peter Philips used the prime colour called Clair, as a base all-over the lid. Then he used the shade in the middle of the palette, another neutral to define the lid and to create the effect of a light tint of colour, like a “cloud” under the eyebrows. And with a darker, but still neutral shade he defined the crease.
He obtained a neutral look without giving the impression that any makeup was used to achieve it!
Of course, NO mascara was used in this presentation, as he already had us used from the previous collections ( see here , here and here ), but this time he thoroughly curved the lashes to open up the eyes and create a fresher look.
To conceal any imperfections he used the Dior Airflash Concealer.
On the cheeks he used the Dior Diorblush #536 Peach Splendor, from the recently released S/S 2015 Kingdom of Colours Collection ( which I already talked about in a post here ).
To finish the look, he simply applied the Dior Lip Maximizer to give the lips a gorgeous natural shine.
This means “pure beauty” in Peter Philips and Raf Simons’ vision of the “haute couture femme“, who even if she had touches of colours on her eyes and cheeks she has not the air of a woman wearing makeup.
For the Dior S/S 2015 Haute Couture presentation, women had “l’air d’être belles, simplement belles“, said Peter Philips!
See you soon, mes belles!
xx, Annie

It is already available in the States! A Sephora exclusive and VIB Exclusive purchase! Lucky them! 😁😁😁
It’s not that long and we’ll be able to get it too! 😀
I really think the eyeshadow palette is going to be a great investment! Beautiful, wearable shades all in one place and very versatile! 👌😌 I would love to see it in person first though and swatch it, as lately after trying TF, Burberry and CT eyeshadows, I became a bit more picky when it comes to texture and finish, opacity and blending… We’ll see!

I know right!? 😁 It is haute couture! And I was expecting everything to be a bit more funky! Not my personal cup of cake though, but I’m sure we’ll see quite a few fashion bloggers wearing them in a near future!
There were some skirts and dresses there though… 😍👌😌 which haute couture or not, I would definitely love to have them in my dressing! 😋😉😁

Hi lovely! Thank you for stopping by and for the lovely comment! 🙏😌
I’m beginning to think that the simple, neutral makeup look is Peter Philips’ signature! I completely adore his work, but with this past four or five collections he did an amazing job!
I’m all for neutral, no fuss makeup anyway so it was only normal to like what he created!😌💕
I won’t dismiss this eyeshadows palette before having the chance at least to swatch it! I’m the most picky person when it comes to eyeshadows nowadays after trying some TF, lots of Burberry and almost everything in the CT eyeshadow range! 🙊🙈☺️
Let’s see what this palette has to offer first! You never know, right? 😁

Love the fresh no-make look, but I just can’t get used to the no-mascara thing. It just makes me look so sleepy and unfinished. Mascara is truly my desert island product, can’t live without it. I once (and only once) forgot to use it and made a panicked dash into the nearest pharmacy…

Haha! I know what you mean! I used to be like that too!
But when I realised I actually have the lashes to wear the no mascara look, there are days when I leave the house with only curling them! 😉 That never happens on working days though, as like you said I feel like my makeup is incomplete! 😁😌

True, I might be able to pull it off if I curled them… but I have an irrational fear of eye lash curlers. Scary little torture devices. Thankfully I have long lashes which curl great with just mascara application 😀

Augh! That neutral eye palette is to die for!!! It’s so pretty…
What did you think of the show? I loved it! I kept thinking how inspired it was to so effectively have mixed elements from different decades. There wasn’t much from the show that I wouldn’t happily wear! From all of the designers, which is your favorite show? I really loved the Valentino show (but, again, the details of the haute couture Chanel show was amazing!!!)…
XOXO

Isn’t it lovely?! 🙀😻 I can see myself wearing it everyday! Haha! But the texture, pigmentation and the finish have to “speak” to me too! So this will the one I won’t buy without swatching it before!
I loved the ’50 vibe of the collection the most! Those gorgeous dresses, with full skirts and cut-out inserts, ahhh!… were amazing! I wasn’t crazy about some material used for the other creations but I still loved the clean cuts of the clothing and the idea of the juxtaposition of different materials and textures. Well, I loved the idea of the whole show to be honest! 😁😌👌
Yes, the Chanel show was special, once more! 😌👌 But I kind of expected that! 😳
And don’t think there was another haute couture show to make women look more feminine than the Valentino show! That one really made me watch it with the most genuine pleasure! The long, ethereal dresses, the floral details in the messy hair! It made me dream of an English garden in a warm spring weather! 😌😌😌🌸💕😻😌

Augh! I love gushing over haute couture with you. It is so exciting to me. If I could just feel haute couture lining my skin once in my life, I would feel complete. LOL. And, Dior, Chanel, or Valentino would be among my first picks.

Ahhh, me too! I’d love wearing some fancy HC to some fancy event… And if I’d had the chance to have some you, my lovely ladies next to me, that would be the best thing ever! sighs
I love talking about these topics with you too my lovely because I feel we have common tastes and you know what I’m talking about! And above all you have a good answer! 👌😌😊
I feel that lately everything gravitates around Dior, Valentino and Chanel… At least for me it does! Well it always happened like this! I remember sometime in the ’90 Jean-Paul Gaultier stole the show for good couple of years… It used to be Dolce & Gabbana too, but they kind of overdone it a couple of seasons back with that Byzantine collection! Not that I didn’t enjoyed watching it or something! 😁

I completely agree about the D&G shows lately. It’s just not my thing.
On the other hand, Dior, Chanel and Valentino exude the love for fashion that I’ve always adored — informed and intelligent design with incomparable detail that makes the romantic heart swoon. Lol. 💕
I will have to live vicariously through my dear friend, Annie. Lol. Lots of pictures!!

Definitely that’s the thing to do… For now at least! One never knows! But he/she has to keep hoping though!😉😌👌😋
I too feel that for the last decade the couturiers focused a lot more on “the women” and her femininity with their HC collections mainly, that to try to create the corkiest accessory or the weirdest outfit!
Who was with those ufo’s/sci-fi inspired looks? Was it Givenchy a couple of years ago?
Oh, well!
