Starting today, I decided to share with you my favourite eyeshadows in my makeup collection – the Burberry Sheer Eyeshadows.
*A little spoiler!* There are a few eyeshadows that I’ve recently got and haven’t had the chance to use because I still need to photograph them… But I will tell you this: they look amazing and they’re everybody’s favourites!
As you can see, these are the mono eyeshadows and I managed to build a “small” collection before Burberry launched them in a new formula as well. I only have 2 new Wet & Dry Burberry Silk Eyeshadows but I will definitely get more. You can read about those, here.
On Burberry website the formula of the Sheer Eyeshadows is describes as “a powder colour in a range of weather-inspired shades”, made with an “innovative formula uses silicones for smooth and flawless application and contains micronised satin smooth pigments to ensure long-lasting colour”. Very technical, right!
What I think about them is that they are made with such a soft, finely mild powder that literally adhere on the lid with just one touch of the brush! Even though they are buttery-soft you won’t experience too much fall-out, thanks to those silicones they mentioned they’ve incorporated in the formula!
With darker colours I would advise you to tap off any excess from your brush though, not only because there might be a bit of fall-out but mainly because these eyeshadows are extremely pigmented, and this little action will make the application easier for you.
Also, they come in a wide range of shades which can be blended to create a range of eye enhancing colours, all muted down – a characteristic you can easily recognize them from and which is supposed to mimic the well-known English weather.
The packaging is another distinctive mark of Burberry Eyeshadows, and it is the gunmetal coloured magnetic case, with the iconic check print on it. The same print you will find when you will open the case on the actual product! Simple and elegant!… And a very pain to use for the first time!
Other details: 2.5g of product; comes with a soft brush; they are made in Italy!
***************************************************************
Now onto the main reason of this post, my pretty Burberry Nudes! I have two to show you: #02 Trench and #22 Pale Barley.
The Burberry Sheer Eyesahdow in #02 Trench is as you can see from the swatches below, the perfect match for my skin tone and it is my favourite when it comes to using a base to start my eye makeup from. It’s a butter-coloured soft powder, a very light shade of beige with the most discreet sheen to it, which doesn’t transfer at all on the skin.
Here you have Trench compared to some similar shades in my collection. MAC Blanc Type is more white and sheer, and it has more visible specks of glitter; it was my go to base and inner corner highlight a while back. MAC Brulé which comes out more pale than Trench and with a bit more sheen to it. #1 PRIME from Charlotte Tilbury The Sophisticate Eyeshadow Palette ( see full review here ) is the most similar to Trench in both texture and formula, and in finish as well, only that I find #1 PRIME to be a bit warmer on me. Sephora‘s Lazy Afternoon is again, a more pale beige still opaque but with a straight out matte finish.
Next is #22 Pale Barley, probably the most known and loved and hyped Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow from all the 20+ shades in the range. It is is a pale, light to medium nude brown shade, with the most beautiful warm, golden and summery gold shimmer and sheen finish. You might see it light a light, warmer taupe but it looks darker in the pan than it applies on the lid or it comes out in swatches and it definitely works so well on all skin tones because it’s such a wearable colour!
I have it swatched next to MAC Patina which is less golden and shimmery and a deeper brown colour. This Dior shade from #609 Earth Reflection Eyeshadow Palette ( read review here ) is even a darker brown than even Patina and also more cool-toned. Chanel # 45 Safari, even if it looks pretty similar in its pan, when swatched comes out the closest to my definition of taupe, of all of these eyeshadows. When Chanel Illusion d’Ombre in Mirage ( read review here ) is the most bronze-toned one and warmer than Pale Barley as well.
Here you have them my lovelies, all analised and swatched for your reading pleasure!
But if you want to see more Burberry eyeshadows I have another review on a beautiful Burberry Complete Eye Palette, in #12 Nude Blush.
See you soon beautiful!
xx, Annie

They look really nice, and a great match for your skintone 🙂 The packaging looks nice, love the stacks you have in the first picture.
Also, don’t you just hate when you have to wait to use a product because you need to photograph it first? Sometimes I am so impatient: when an order comes in I just want to use it 😉

They really do match my skin tone therefore it was a pain in the bump trying to catch the colours! 😅😅😅 I hope they’ve turned out alright! 😉
And omg, having to wait for a good photo it’s really painful, especially when you’re having crappy weather with no sunlight and you have to postpone the shooting. 😩😔
Wishing you a lovely week!

So annoying when swatches don’t show up because it matches your skin!
Waiting to photograph amazing grace was really bad, I nearly wore it before I took the shot 🙂
Haven’t tried any burberry, their makeup has only very recently been introduced in one of our big department stores and I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. Will do so after reading your review though!

Ah! Can’t wait to read your complete review on Amazing Grace! I can tell you already love it! What about Pillow Talk? Isn’t that a lovely product too? I haven’t used it in a while myself! Need to bust it out again! 😁😁😁
Definitely do a bit of swatching therapy when you have the chance… They are absolutely lovely eyeshadows! 😌👌

They are great, Amazing Grace is just the perfect color and finish. It is probably the only lippy I will be wearing for a couple of weeks 😉

LOL I know the feeling my lovely! 😀 I used mine before shooting them! I wasn’t able to hide that on Pillow Talk but with the lipstick I just used its other side/back and didn’t showed at all in pictures!
and OMG! what’s wrong with this weather?! is it ever going to be Spring or Summer again! because I’ve literally had enough with this rain lately?!… we also had 30cm snow in the mountains!?

LOL There was a time when I was using ONLY Burberry eyeshadows, disregarding other brands! big mistake!
now I’m more tolerant with other brands too! =))) “opened my horizon” but still own a lot of the Burberry ones! and love them still!… 😀

Sometimes a product is just so good it deserves to be the only thing you use 😀
I have a Chanel shadow I really like and I have heard some good stuff about Dior as well 🙂

If you ask me I prefer Dior eyeshadows to the Chanel ones! They are more pigmented and finely mild. I can’t say the same about cream eyeshadows though… I prefer the Illusion d’Ombre to the Dior cream ones…
And what you said about a product being so good that you want to only use that one is absolutely true! I go through phases with my makeup! Sometimes I use a product so much, then I either get bored or I find a new one to obsess over… LOL
Thank goodness we have where to choose from! 😁😁😁

Oh yes, I definitely have phases as well. Sometimes it can end up being so boring and I try to force myself to change things up a little. You are right, we are so fortunate to own lots of the stuff 🙂

These toffee shades are ladies’ best friends for the eyes. They suit almost anyone and they’re really buildable. I haven’t tried a Burberry’s eyeshadow yet, but they look much better than those from Mac. 😉

Aren’t they, my lovely?! They’re everything you may ask from an eyeshadow… So soft, finely mild yet they blend like a dream without major fall out, and so so pigmented! Definitely give them a go if you ever have the chance! Or if you’re at a Burberry counter, take some time to have a little fun playing with them!😁😁😁

I kept myself away from that one too but not for the same reasons as you! I don’t like heavy coverage foundations! They make your skin look cakey, they clog your pores and therefore cause breakouts! Well, that happens with all makeup anyway if not properly cleansed but with this kind of products I find you need more work to take them off as well! 😋😁

Merci beaucoup ma belle! I did my best so that the photos to be true to colours! Pale Barley it’s an excellent every, simple to use says all day kind of eyeshadow. Definitely recommend this one for an easy eye look!
I’m pretty well thanks for asking! I just got home from work and yeah, here it’s 9 PM… But oh, well! Work keeps us busy! Can’t wait to take a shower and to go straight to bed!
But I couldn’t resist not answering you, since we’ve been both so busy lately that I feel the continuity of our chitchats has broken somewhere along the way!… 😓
I still haven put together that email I promised I will write for you but I genuinely had to time to look for some pictures! I hope you will forgive me for that! 🙏😊 I will probably send it on Easter break! 😁
How are you guys? What are you up to lately?
Beaucoup des bisous! 😘😘😘

No worries! I know you’re a busy lady! That’s what you get for being so competent at what you do :o)
Not much is new here. I survived my first week on my own. It wasn’t too terrible, but I think the charge nurses also set me up with easier cases. I hope they keep doing that for a few more weeks. I like to explain what it feels like to be a new nurse as having to do everything all day long with your non-dominant hand. Nothing feels easy or natural; everything is a task that requires full attention. I spaced out while talking to a patient’s wife on Wednesday right at the moment she was asking me a question. I was so embarrassed when I had to ask her to repeat herself, LOL. Oh well. I’m learning SO much, and I really do love what I do. In a few months things will be a lot easier. In the meanwhile, we have the means to build a house! The loan process is coming to a close, and we’re working more closely with the builder now. We’ve had the plans for a couple of weeks now. It’s really exciting! Things are coming together!!
I’ve missed our frequent chats, as well. It seems like we’re starting to get back into a routine though. I hope that you’re doing well and finding opportunities to recharge your batteries. Lots of love! Bisous!

congratulations on your first week on your own! taking decisions is always the hardest part! but you’ll have to get used to it!
and don’t worry situations like this one happened to me several times too! LOL it happens, especially when you’re a beginner and you need to get into the rhythm.
I sure hope to get some rest again these days ! and catch up with you guys!

Hi lovely! Seriously?! 🙀 But Burberry does such amazing makeup! Their eyeshadows are absolutely gorgeous in all 3 formulas, the blushes are so beautiful and wearable all-year round, their base products are also great… Not the biggest fan of their lipsticks, but I’m yet to try the new Kisses lipsticks, maybe they’re better! But I absolutely adore their lip glosses and lip liners!
Definitely give them a go or at least have some fun at a Burberry counter! You’ll fall in love as sell! 😁😋😉
