Maybe it’s because I can finally enjoy the most welcomed Spring weather ( hello May! ), but lately I’ve been trying to do less of a “heavy” makeup. And with the weather changing and getting warmer, I finally ditched the bold, dark, plummy, wine lip and the festive reds ( well, that’s not entirely true! ) for softer pink colours. I also reached more for my BB Creams and my lightweight formula foundations from NARS and Dior, instead of a heavy-duty base, like the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk.
My blush preferences also changed inevitably! Not only the colours I wanted were more pink and peachy, but I didn’t wanted my blushes to be obvious, to sit on my skin, if that makes any sense…
I couldn’t wait to use the Dolce & Gabbana The Blush Luminous Cheek Colour, since I purchased them last autumn and they’ve been waiting in their drawer as impatiently as myself, for the first signs of Spring!
These two blushes are exactly what I’m looking for at the moment! They do an amazing job at just “melting” into your makeup base, giving you that partially translucent look, yet “enough” amount of colour for a fresh-looking face appropriate for the Spring season.
– this is a photo I published on my Instagram account that everybody seemed to love
Last year in Spring, I focused myself mainly on “obvious” pinks choosing blushes like Dior Rosy Glow #001 Petal, Chanel Joue Contraste #72 Rose Initiale or #86 Discrétion. This year I went for a more neutral look, starting with this Dolce & Gabbana The Blush Luminous Cheek Colour, in #10 Nude.
You’d be tempted to say that Nude is definitely a peach shade from the way it appears in its chic, gold-metal case compact. But this slightly peachy, soft powder goes definitely nude on the skin, as its name suggests – maybe with the slightest tinge of peach…
It’s one of those neutral blush shades that is great for contouring as well ( of course, for certain skin tones ) or for adding just a hint of discreet warmth to your cheeks. I used it both ways and the result was lovely! Even if it’s an absolutely gorgeous colour, I think it works the best for fair to medium skin tones… I’m afraid it may be too light to show up on complexions darker than that.
On the other hand, the Dolce & Gabbana The Blush Luminous Cheek Colour, in #33 Rosebud would be a safer choice for almost all skin tones; perfect for all those seeking for a “natural glow”, with a healthy pop of colour.
Of course, I still couldn’t resist this little pink treasure here!
Even if you can notice some peachy undertones in it, Rosebud gives away the most beautiful, soft pink, healthy flush on my cheeks. I love how fresh makes my complexion look, and goes so well with different lipsticks – both with soft pink colours, and with bright pinks to bold fuchsias, as well.
Here you have the swatches:
Both blushers are finely milled and feel soft to the touch, very blendable and last well on the cheeks. I recon, Nude and Rosebud are not terribly unique shades, but they definitely are very natural and flattering on the skin. And I think that precisely for not being that intensely pigmented colours, they make an excellent choice for these warm Spring days!
What are your blush options this Spring? Please share!
See you soon, Beautiful!
xx, Annie

Both of these blushes look beautiful on you. They give you such a nice radiant healthy glow. 🙂 I really love the look of Rosebud. So pretty! ❤ Lots of xx

Hi my lovely! These two blushers are pretty amazing indeed! I have to admit that Rosebud is also my favourite even though the one I loved more was Nude! Nude was also the first one that I picked and got Rosebud on a whim…
Does that happen to you too? To have your mind set on something, then use something else and change your mind?
Good gracious, I’m so inconsistent when it comes to my makeup! 😅😅😅
Lots of xx and hugs

Oh I am the same way! I am always changing my mind too! Both the Nude and Rosebud are very pretty though! They inspired me to pick up a nice light rose blush color at the drugstore the other day lol. I shouldn’t have bought any makeup this month but I’ve broken that rule quite a bit lol. I’ve ordered 2 MAC lipsticks and I ordered a new eyeshadow palette from theBalm off of Hautelook so I got it half off! But no more makeup purchases for me! It’s hard when you hoard makeup haha!
Lots of xx and hugs to you too!! ❤

OMG! I made you spend your money! Uuuupppss! But one can never have enough makeup, right!? does that work as an excuse in my defence? LOL 😅😅😅
Can’t wait to see that palette from theBalm! 50% off!? that is definitely a bargain! It had to be done! 👌🏼😌
You will be still blogging while you’re at home right?
I’d love to see a look with that palette and the new blush! 😊

You always inspire me Annie 🙂 I had to get the palette from theBalm. I got the Balm Jovi Rockstar Face palette. Kaily from Someday Sunny told me it’s in her top 5 favorites so I’m glad I picked that one up. The only other palette that I liked that was offered was the Nude Tude one and I already have that one that I got when theBalm had a 40% off flash sale a year ago. I said no more makeup purchases but then I kind of ordered 2 Tanya Burr lip glosses lol. It’s a shame that everything will probably get here while I’m gone in Michigan. Hautelook, where I got theBalm palette from takes a couple of weeks before they ship out unfortunately. So I will probably get the palette after I get back. There will be some new things to look forward to seeing in June. I will still be posting while I’m at home of course. I can’t go without blogging for very long lol. Lots of xx

Thanks Annie! I had to order a couple of those glosses after seeing Karen from Confetti & Curves wearing one of them. I ordered Picnic in the Park that she was wearing and Afternoon Tea. Though they will take a while to get shipped here overseas, I can’t wait!! 😀 Lots of xx ❤ ❤

Picnic in the park is Tania Burr’s favourite as well, she always wears it in her videos! 😋😁 I’m curious to see how they are, and since I really trust your opinion, I can’t wait to see how they will work for you! 😊xx

I will let you know and do a post as soon as they arrive! I’m so excited about them! I wish they were going to be here sooner but all good things come to those who wait. 😊😉 xx ❤❤

They definitely took too long to arrive! I always get impatient, knowing that I always have issues with my address and stuff, I also panic at a certain point! 😅😅😅
That’s when lots of phone calls and emails jump in! LOL
Anyway, I just hope it’s not the case with you too! And can’t wait to see how they look on you! 😁xx

On another note MY Rosebud is pretty lovely as well! I’m really enjoying having it and using it lately!
What is your favourite blush at the moment!

Omg! You’re so right about this luxurious packaging! It photographs soooo well… Sooo pretty and clean, and definitely gives away that vibe of luxury makeup!
As for the colours, Nude was my first pick anyway! But I still find myself reaching for a safe colours like Rosebud! Old habits die hard! I guess! 😅😅😅
But I definitely love Nude as well!
Have you tried them yet? Do you have them there, in Norway?

Hi Lauren! I really don’t know what is it with this golden packaging that gives away the most luxurious feeling! Thank goodness that these two don’t limit themselves only to looking gorgeous , they are pretty amazing as well! 👌🏼💕
Which one is your favourite from the two I have here?
Or have you tried another one? I would love to hear your suggestions…

I know right! So difficult to pick just one! And Rosebud definitely gains more room in my heart than I even expected it to! My first pick was Nude, as I was in a need for a natural looking blush! Maybe it’s because of Spring that I’m going for lovely pinks… I don’t know! 😁😉😊xx

I totally understand why you’re getting greedy! They all look amazing!
I always think of Gucci eyeshadows when I see the D&G ones! Never tried those either but I sure hope to get my hands on some asap!
Have you checked those yet?

Yes I do! I always reach for my Dior Star even though lately that one has been replaced by NARS Weightless Foundation. And the “heavy duty” one that I always choose for special occasions that involve photo shooting with a blitz and all – the GA Luminous Silk! That’s the best thing ever for such events! 👌🏼😁😊

I really liked Dior star when I tried it, but I didn’t buy it as I use my Lancome Teint Miracle for more of a flawless finish. Bobbi Browns lightweight skin foundation is my everyday favourite xx

Dior Star it’s nothing like the Lancome one! Or should I say it otherwise… The Teint Miracle does not compare to Star! Star is lightweight, covers gives a natural glow to the skin when I find the Teint Miracle to be heavy and a lot more cakey in finish at least for my liking and on my face anyway! I do not like it even if it was one of the first foundations I bought, right after the Vitalumiere Aqua! That would be another base I always seem to go back to! 😅😅😅 now that I mentioned it! 😅😅😅
I haven’t tried the BB one though!
Ahhh! Drooling over some BB makeup lately! 😁👌🏼

Lol I know completely different animals, but I see Dior star as the ideal foundation for evening wear as it gives me good coverage and its formulated to make you look good in photos etc. At the moment I have the Lancome for evening, therefore I have no need for an additional evening foundation. I have many daytime foundations which can also be built up for evening wear and obviously as a blogger I’d love to have every amazing foundation but I do like to make the most of what I’ve got if that makes sense? …OMG the Bobbi Brown serum foundation you have to try it! Today is my first day with it on! Lovely lightweight comfortable formula with quite good coverage xx

NEED to get me some BB goodies asap! NO joke! I’ve heard that the new lippies are amazing too!
yes, the Dior Star photographs lovely even in flashlight but it definitely has less coverage than the Lancome one you might be used with. it is also less heavier looking than that!
😉 xx

also be careful how you get matched to your shade! don’t trust the SA at the counter and get the colour you love more. there are 3 undertones available! I went for the neutrals!
but you can read more about that in my review about the Star!

You’re right there! Much to their distaste I always walk away after trying the product and walk around in it for a bit / see what it looks like in daylight. I always go back to the counter that had spent the time on me if I decide to buy out of courtesy (unless it’s radically less expensive elsewhere!)xx
