NARS Audacious Lipstick Ingrid – How dark will I go?!…

I keep surprising myself how irremediably fascinated I am lately by the look of a dark lip!

I keep posting and posting, one after another reviews featuring the most amazing bold, vampy, dark shades of lipstick… But don’t fool yourself! I’ve never been the “audacious” type… I was always that lipstick wearer that cited Tom Ford Pink Dusk as my most worn-down product ( well, it still is! ) and it took me a good couple of years to even muster up the courage to don a red lip during the day…

But no! Oh, no! Not anymore! Now the darker the lipstick, the better I feel…

As Mister François Nars said, it seems like…

I have a real love affair with lipstick. It gives me more power!

Until now “my power” came from: a wine colour: the YSL Rouge Pure Couture #206 Grenat Satisfaction, a dark chocolate-brown Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Matte 130 Desirous but then I went even darker with Charlotte Tilbury’s Glastonberry MATTE Revolution Lipstick…

Now the only reasonable question that I can hear in the back of my mind is:

How far will I go? How close to black I’m I going to choose my lipstick shades and still feel comfortable wearing them?!…

Today, the answer to this question comes again from NARS, with another Audacious Lipstick called Ingrid, the most “audacious” of all the girls that I own ( check them all here! ), the most true grunge lipstick shade in my collection!

Ingrid is best described as a “merlot”. What’s lovely about this shade is that if you look  – at it in the tube – and I hope you can actually see it as well – it looks like a very deep-toned, almost black, berry. But when you go on and apply it on the lips, it shows a beautiful burgundy-red base with some interesting warm undertones. Such a complex colour!

As all the lipsticks in this line, Ingrid is intensely pigmented, seriously creamy and ridiculously opaque! Just one swipe straight from the tube it’s enough for a full coverage, well defined pout! Being a creamy-matte formula ( can you see that beautiful glossy-shine finish?! ) it’s not an absolute necessity the usage of a lip pencil with it, but pre-defining the lips with a lip liner in the same colour, should help it stay longer on the lips, fade evenly and not slipping and sliding all-over. My recommendation: Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Berry Naughty.

5 Lipsticks you absolutely MUST wear this Autumn – the 2015 Edit

Don’t worry lovelies, you’re not having sight issues! In the picture above there are 3 times 5 lipsticks… Well, almost! These are all the lipsticks that I will definitely wear all Autumn long. But especially for you, I narrowed everything down to an Edit of 5 Shades that you have absolutely no excuse not to wear! A selection of everyday nudes and some gorgeous vampy, deep berries, dark chocolates and wine shades to go with any occasion.

Here you have THE MUSTs:

1. CHARLOTTE TILBURY MATTE Revolution Lipstick in Glastonberry – a gorgeous deep berry shade with an extremely comfortable formulation. I will recommend wearing this one with the lip liner Berry Naughty, again from Charlotte Tilbury. ( see full review and swatches here )
2. NARS Audacious Lipstick in Deborah – this is unlike any lipstick in my collection and a colour I would’ve sworn I’d never wear. Not the biggest fan of chocolate lipsticks, mainly because I lived through the ’90 and I saw so many browns worn so badly that it would be enough for me to go ewww! in front of any brown variation… But this one.. Oh, this NARS one is… Well you’ll see my thoughts on it in an upcoming review! Soon, I promise! This is another one I like to wear over a Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner – Hollywood Honey.
3. YSL Rouge Pure Couture The Mats #206 Grenat Satisfaction – a gorgeous wine rusty red with warm undertones and no visible blues in it. I guess this one will suit so many skin tones so I definitely recommend it! ( review and swatches here )
4. for an everyday/work appropriate/easy-to-apply-when-you’re-on-the-go lipstick I  definitely recommend one of the CHANEL Rouge Coco Shines from the Les Automnales 2015 Collection – #99 Mélancolie. ( full review on my picks from this collection here )
5. and another nude-ish pick, I had to dig out from my collection, the TOM FORD MATTE Lipstick in #04 Pussycat – a gorgeous creamy matte purple-brown shade so easy to wear, so long lasting and so comfortable on the lips. ( full review here )

So yeah! Since I had to narrow everything down to 5 lipsticks – for the sake of this post obviously, otherwise we’d still be here at Christmas!, these would be my recommendations for the Autumn of 2015.

BURBERRY The makeup look for the upcoming 2015 Spring

September was definitely all about the fashion shows. Everything started in New York, then one by one London, Milan and Paris took the stage, as expected!

Confession time: there are two particular fashion shows I can’t wait to see every season: the first one is from Dior, because I adore Peter Philips’ work ( you can read the full article on the makeup he proposes for next spring here ) and the other one happens in London and it is – as you all might have guessed, the Burberry show.

This year I fell in love with the so unusually bright colours and prints in the Burberry clothing collection, with those amazing monogrammed trenches ( a new service to customize your favourite Burberry pieces ) and, of course, with the makeup proposed for the upcoming S/S 2015 season by Wendy Rowe, the Artistic Cosnultant for Burberry and Makeup Artist Extraordinaire.

This makeup is already known by now as Wendy Rowe’s Nude Beauty and it is as simple and minimalist as I like it, but bold at the same time because she exquisitely combined a bold deep red lip with a honey-bronzed radiant skin. So unusual for a Spring look and on the other side of the spectrum from the soft pastels we are used with! But the makeup complimented the clothing collection so well and it is so easy to use, and above all so easy to recreate.

As you can see the particularity of this makeup is that the each product is meticulously placed on the face in thin layers, very well blended to avoid it looking “cakey” and the final result to be a natural sun kissed look. 

Besides that no mascara was used. It seems like since Peter Philips stopped using mascara for the A/W 2014 Dior Couture Fashion Show this spring ( see post here ), this became a real trend among the big fashion names. That’s why they call it minimal makeup anyway!

Nonetheless, Burberry came out with two amazing mascaras that I’m currently testing and, of course, I will write a review about them very soon!
