The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter with Community Fair Trade Camomile… Fancy name, right?! The product itself might not be as fancy as other cleansing balms I have used ( and believe me, I used quite a few! I have a review on a luxury one, the Diptyque Cleansing Balm, here ) but it will amaze you with the simplicity of its ingredients, packaging and the way it works.

Before I go on with the actual review, here are a few things you should know about The Body Shop Company:

– to source some of the finest raw ingredients, they harness the skills of artisan farmers and add their own expertise which comes from years and years of research to create effective products. So there are 25 Community Fair Trade suppliers and and more to come in a near future;

– The Body Shop NEVER tested on animals. There is a record where the campaign fighting animal testing for cosmetics led to a ban in the UK territory, in 1998 for the company products. Their concern for cruelty free products is just as strong today;

– they are concerned about the welfare of the planet by reducing the CO2 emissions, recycling, planting trees;

– they defend human rights since 1994 when they have helped to raise funds and contributed to the global awareness of domestic violence.

The cleansing balms have been on the market for quite some time, now and I’m sure you red enough about “their technical details” – how they work and blah blah…  So I’ll make it short and sweet, and tell you just a few pros and a few cons I have noticed using this product.

PROs:

– it is an 100% natural product

– it is suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers

– it has a nice, relaxing floral scent which is due to the Camomile extract and leaves my skin feeling clean, refreshed and pampered

– it comes in a compact aluminium can which makes it easier to travel with

– it is not that expensive for a cleansing balm

CONs:

– it is waxier than the most cleansing balms I have tried

– I dislike the fact that I have to stick my fingers into the pan to take the product out and put it on my face. Most of the times I first wet my hands then reach for the balm and things get a little messy

– I absolutely have to triple cleanse; it often does not “gently and efficiently melts away makeup and impurities” as it claims, especially waterproof makeup

Overall a decent product I used and enjoyed!

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie
