With summer on its last leg ( so to say! ), what better time to take advantage of that and write about the epitome of luxury bronzing powder products Guerlain Terracottas are!

I love some brands for their lipsticks, some for their colour selection, but Guerlain has definitely the most gorgeous bronzers I have ever tried! Matte, glowy, with such a variety of shades to choose from, housed in an extremely beautiful, luxury packaging – Guerlain has it all!

Now, I’m not going to talk again about the Terracotta Light and the Sun Celebration 30 Years Anniversary Sun Star Pallette because I already reviewed them! Just click on them and the links will redirect you to the actual posts!

So, the one I will be talking about next is the Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons Tailor-Made Bronzing Powder. My shade now is #03 Light Brunette.

This is a re-re-repurchase for me. The first one I had came in the lightest shade #00 Nude. My second one was the shade #03 Light Brunette, but after a few good months of thoroughly usage, I somehow managed to reduce it to pieces! Yup, I am clumsy like that!

I still had my Terracotta Light in #02 Sun Blondes, but I needed a “certain” matte bronzer, a good old friend I knew and loved! A re-purchase was inevitable!

With your permission, beautiful, I will give you the full description of this product, from Guerlain’s website.

From winter to summer, the tone of the complexion changes. This is why Guerlain has created Terracotta 4 Seasons, a variation in four steps to sculpt your tan all year long. The perfect gradation of caramelised hues, these four shades can be endlessly combined and layered, depending on your desire, skin tone and the season, for an authentic tan and an incredibly natural result.
The complexion is sun-kissed with a sheer finish, both radiant and matt. The natural effect is irreproachable and the tan seems reinvented.

What is there more to add?! Great product, gorgeous packaging, flawless application! Definitely a must-have in everyone’s makeup collection!

Next you will have some swatches of the Terracotta 4 Seasons bronzing powder and a few more photos of my little Guerlain Powder Bronzers collection to please your eyes!

Today I am happy to share with you my own experience with one of the most beautiful summer releases – if not all year round! Because I think it will be rather difficult for another brand to release a more beautiful pattern on a product, or package, or scent than Guerlain‘s Terracotta Sun Celebration 30th Anniversary Edition Bronzing Powder and Blush, “The Star Sun Powder”.

photo 3.1 – you might have seen already this picture on my Instagram account

This is a beautiful combination of bronzer and blush all-in-one product, that Guerlain launched in May 2014, to mark their 30th Anniversary. This limited edition palette is meant to capture the allure of the sun in a pan. And it definitely does that with the two bronzer sections, a bright pink blush, doubled by another beautiful orange coloured one. The sun in the center is only a gold overspray, and it will wear off with using the product.

Before buying it, my main concern was how this will translate on my rather pale skin?! I have to admit that this is one step close to an orange look when all the colours are swirled together, mainly because the orange blush gives away more colour than the pink one. But used with a light hand, everyone can make it work!

photo 1.1

– L-R: bronzer, orange blush, pink blush, and the last swatch are all the colours swirled together

The powder is extremely finely-milled and the colours are easily buildable, even if they will start off very subtle. Except for the gold sun overspray in the middle of the pan, all the colours are matte.

I would rather use the colours ( bronzer and blushes ) separately. One great thing about this palette is that the shades are large enough, that you can go in with a decent sized brush and pin point exactly which colour you want to use. I used it with my Tom Ford #06 Cheek Brush, but mainly with my Hakuhodo J210 Blush Brush, because I like more the way the product blends with it.

The packaging is this 16 g of product gathered in a sleek, wooden compact, with a mirrored detachable lid, held together by 3 magnets. Can anyone beat Guerlain on that presentation?! Not really!

And the scent… OMG! That scent is God sent! ( feeling the poet side of a beauty blogger, much?! ) It does not have the usual Guerlain violet signature scent! This one is more fresh and more floral, with a tinge of sweetness in it. It will instantly take you to an exotic Thaitian garden, filled with tiaré flowers. Some might find the scent overpowering, but I think that it is simply gorgeous.

photo 5

As for the wearing time: I have applied it in the morning when I did my makeup and after 8 hours of work, and sun, and sweat at the end of the day I could see slight signs of fading. And without any touch ups!

Bottom line: If you are after that deep, summer kind of a goldeny bronzed glow this is the right product you were lusting after!

Thoughts on it? Please share!

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie

Summer of 2014 – Bronzed, glowing, healthy summer look… Tip #2 Bronzing Powder: Guerlain Terracotta Light Bronzing Powder, #04 Sun Blondes

Another essential for summer is bronzing powder. Either you have pale skin like mine, either you are naturally bronzed a touch of bronzer in the right places will light up your already tanned complexion! And you will notice such a big difference!

photo3

Now! There are so many bronzing powders out there! I have to admit it though!… No one does them better than Guerlain! So this is the Guerlain Terracotta Light Bronzing Powder, in #04 Sun Blondes.

It comes in the form of a superb mosaic of colours, an unique combination of five shades warmed with subtly mixed golden particles for a delicate sheer tan. It is so lightweight that it will ensure an incredibly natural result, for both blondes and brunettes, enhancing the complexion and making it sun-kissed, subtly iridescent, and ultra-luminous.

photo

How I use it. The Terracotta Light can be applied in two different ways, all-over the face for an unbelievably natural and incredibly chic tan. I sweep a light veil all over the face with a dual-fiber brush to make sure I’m not overdoing it. This will give me the right amount of bronze and glow at the same time. I also make sure to apply it in thin layers and blend it very well! The look is natural and easy to achieve!

But I also like to apply it in touches for a sun-kissed effect: to intensify the top of the cheekbones to the brow bone for a perfectly sculpted face and on my forehead, where the sun naturally touches my face.

Don’t be scared by the glitters you see in the swatches. They will translate more of a sheen on your complexion, giving you the natural bronzed, healthy glow I was telling you about.

The powder is so finely mild and a little bit goes a long way. I can’t imagine hitting the pan for a long time. This will definitely be a re-purchase for me.

How about you? What are your favourite powder bronzers?

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie

Simple makeup: Tricks and Tips for more awake, open eyes

Burberry Efortless Mascara, By Terry Cellularose® Blush Glacé, by terry hyaluronic-hydra powder, Collistar Professional Eye-Lip Pencil, eye makeup tricks, Guerlain Teracotta bronzer, MAC Blank Type eyeshadow, Shu Uemura S-curler, YSL Dessin du Regard Eye Pencil Waterproof

I am a big fan of simple makeup! There are days when I use only the basics: some powder ( By Terry Hyaluronic-Hydra Powder, reviewed here ), some bronzer ( Guerlain Teracotta Light, #04 Sun Blondes – my favourite bronzer at the moment ), a flush of blush ( By Terry Cellularose® Blush Glacé, #1 Rose Melba – I wrote a full review on this one last week, link here)… But I feel that my makeup is incomplete if I do not have my lashes on. And I am not talking about falsies! Being the lazy, two-left-handed-person I am, putting false lashes on turns out to be a real adventure! So I’m saving those for special occasions!

photo

Anyway… Here is what I do to look human in the morning! Base applied I follow this simple technique, I saw my favourite Wayne Goss doing a demo on:

Step I: with my eyelash curler of choice ( at the moment, I enjoy using the new Shu Uemura S-curler, because it allows me to control the areas where I want my lashes to be more curled ) I clamp the lash at their base and give them several squeezes.

Step II. It is as easy as the first one! All you need to do is to recurl them! But you have to make sure you get all the lashes ( … and, as less skin as possible… preferably none! ), then squeeze and lift your eyelash curler handle upwards and push it in like I did in the picture. Make sure not to press too hard because you will be left with marks from the eyelash curler onto your skin!

photo 4 – this is how you should position your curler!

You can see already, in the next picture, what big of a difference curling your lashes like this makes! And because now the lashes are so curled and you had pushed them in during this technique, the lashes are getting really long that there is a chance your mascara will transfer on your eyelids, when you will apply it. So be careful with that!

It is safe to repeat this technique until you are pleased with how your lashes look – as long as you do not squeeze too hard to make your poor lashes come off!

photo 5 – left eye – eyelashes curled Step I and II

You can see in the pictures below, since I don’t have much makeup on, that the the one standing out is the eye I curled my lashes with this technique and applied the mascara ( Burberry Efortless Mascara, in #01 Midnight Black ). The whole eye looks so open!

For an even more awaken eye, what I like to do is to take a black kohl ( I pretty much enjoy this YSL Dessin du Regard Eye Pencil Waterproof, in #01 Black Velvet at the moment ) and place it in my tideline. Tidelining is a step I thought it was useless until I first tried it ( on Lisa Elridge recommendation, obviously! ). Now that I saw the amazing full lashes effect it gives and how it intensifies the look, it turned into a must in my makeup routine, even for a simple eye makeup look.

– left eye: eyelashes curled, mascara on, tidelined, nude eyeliner in the waterline

Another trick I am not leaving the house without is to highlight the inner corners of the eye ( any highlighting eyeshadow would be just fine, today I used MAC‘s Blank Type ). And because my eyes tend to look perpetually tired and irritated I choose to add a nude eyeliner in my waterline ( I used the Collistar Professional Eye-Lip Pencil, in colour Butter ).

Here is the final result for a better comparison!
