annie's beauty... Loving Nudes #11

It’s time for another episode of the Loving Nudes series! And we’re already at #11, which means that there are other 10 episodes you need you catch up with?!… Ten more episodes, with at least ten more nude lipstick options! Well… That’s quite a lot of nudes to choose from, if you ask me! Haha!

So check them out and let me know what’s your favourite in the comments below!

annie's beauty... Loving Nudes #11 1

Now let’s get on to the actual review!

There’s no secret by now how much I love the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks! I love them in every formulation they come in – the original creamy one like these I’m talking about today, the matte one you can see me wearing here and I’m yet to try the Shines, which are supposed to be good dupes for another all-time favourite lipsticks of mine, the Chanel Rouge Coco Shines ( see my faves and some funny stories about them here and here! ).

In terms of formula, pigmetation and application Intense Nude and Implulsive, the two new lipstick nudes I’m focusing my attention on today, are no exception! They’re both creamy and soft, and glide onto the lips “hugging” them with pigment, in just one swipe. They last as much as any other cream lipstick on the market, and you definitely need to reapply during the day… If not for anything else, mostly for the fun of it, believe me!

130 Intense Nude is a not-too-deep-not-too-“superficial” dusty rose shade with brown, neutral undertones which gives it warmth and makes it more wearable, and suitable to many skin tones. A perfect balance of a gorgeous Pantone “café-au-laît” with soft, rosy tones in it, if you like!

210 Impulsive on the other hand, is another neutral but a muted pink this time, definitely lighter and brighter than Intense Nude… And girlier, why not?! It will be an excellent colour option to wear this upcoming spring and I’m looking forward to!

[ For swatches and comparisons check this link, here ]

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

I really love these Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks in every colour I have tried so far ( check all my colour picks, with swatches here) !… And in every formulation! I highly recommend these two nude shades, especially if you’re on a hunt for a more than decent lipstick to wear at work, or in meetings! These two literally saved the day a couple of times, giving me confidence and making me look composed and on top of the situation, even if I was way, way far from that! Estée Lauder did an awesome job with this line!

I hope you had an awesome weekend this far!

See you soon, Beautiful!

xx, Annie

Loving nudes #10: NARS Audacious Lipstick Anita

Yeah, I know! You feel free to consider me rather late to the party, but this NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita is nothing like any other nude lipstick I have tried before!!! And, let’s be honest here! It’s never too late to brag up and down about a gorgeous nude, right!?

annies-beauty-loving-nudes-10-nars-anita-2

There’s no surprise to many ( wether you’ve been following me for a while or not ) how much I love the NARS Audacious Lipsticks! They have been featured constantly in countless blog posts throughout this past year, and they were the stars of some of my most loved articles on this blog. Here you have a few, just for your entertainment:

  • NARS Audacious Lipsticks – One Week in Spring Colours OVERALL THOUGHTS
  • NARS Audacious Lipstick Ingrid How dark will I go?!…
  • NARS Audacious Lipstick Deborah

Back to my Anita now!

Anita was a courteous gift from a lovely blogger-friend – Michelle, who was kind enough to help me get my hands on Anita and her “sister” Lana. See Lana in action here!

While Lana is a fiery-red, bada** chick, Anita places “herself” on the other side of the spectrum, playing “the good girl”… A nude, awesome everyday colour, that works amazingly worn on any occasion and with any type of makeup, from the most neutral to the most sophisticated.

Anita is described as an “antique rose”, a medium rose pink, with warm brown-ish undertones which makes it the perfect MLBB ( my lips but better ) shade – if you were looking for one!

But from all the MLBB shades of lipsticks that I have tried ( and trust me, they were more than “a few”!?!?!!!!! ), I would definitely have to recommend NARS’ Anita as a first pick!… Simply because it’s one of the most beautiful creamy, pigmented formula that literally coats your lips with the most pigmented of colours, that also lasts a very long time on your lips without drying them.

Keep in mind that all NARS Audacious Lipsticks come in that lovely creamy-matte formula, which I was astonished to discover isn’t everyone’s cup of cake!?

annies-beauty-loving-nudes-10-nars-anita-3

Here you have a swatch comparison of Anita to some other nudes in my collection.

The closest dupe to it I find to be Tom Ford‘s Collin, from the Lips & Boys Collection and Estée Lauder‘s Intense Nude, which I will review soon.

One more thing! I do love to wear Anita on its own on my bare lips and it wears exceptionally well!… But for the sake of this review and to make it look more professional, I will add that THE ONE lip liner that goes absolutely fabulous with Anita is Charlotte Tilbury‘s Pillow Talk.

This is the combination I would definitely recommend with my eyes closed… If you were on a hunt for the perfect nude lip colour, that is!

Review done! So… What were you up to lately my beautiful ones? What new discoveries you have to share with me?

Anyways, it feels so so good to be back to YOU and your complete awesomeness!

See you soon, Beautiful!

xx, Annie

Confession time: I miss Summer already!…

… But I can’t wait to wear those gorgeous Autumnal colours at once!

With that thought in mind, I recreated for you my go-to Summer 2015 look that revolves around glowing skin, peachy-nude lips, cheeks and lids and lots of mascara!

image

  • NARS Yachio Kabuki Brush ( review )
  • HAKUHODO J242G brush ( review )

  • SHU UEMURA S Lash Curler

imageimage

My lip products of choice for this look was a combination of 2 products you might have seen already if you’re a long-time follower of annie’s beauty… .

After applying my lip conditioner ( my favourite at the moment is by Hampton Sun ), I used the CHARLOTTE TILBURY Lip Cheat in Pink Venus ( full review here ) to define my lips following their natural shape, and to fill them in. What I liked to do was to work really well the product into my lips with my fingers and reapply it! I found out that by doing so, the colour lasts longer on my lips, even with a lip gloss on top.

My lip gloss of choice was the BURBERRY Lip Glow No.9 Nude Beige ( full review here ) that comes in one of the most amazing formulas. Not too sticky and with the perfect intensity of shine! Not to mention that they come in an array of shades ( check them out on Burberry’s  website ).

The final result – a gorgeous peachy-nude shade that went so well with so many different looks I wore this past Summer, from going out for a brunch with the girls to a lovely dinner out with Mr. G.

I hope you found your read enjoyable and as always…

See you soon, Beautiful!

Loving Nudes #7 TOM FORD Lip Color Shine in #05 Bare

#loving nudes, nude lipstick, review, swatches, Tom Ford, Tom Ford Lip Color Shine, Tom Ford Lip Color Shine #05 Bare

image

How is is it possible for a shade of lipstick designed mainly to make your lips disappear to be so sensual and appealing at the same time?! This will be one of those paradoxes of the beauty world that I won’t be able to explain… Ever!

In today’s post I decided to take a break from all the bright, Spring appropriate lipsticks and go back to the basics with another nude… A nude with a twist this time… A sheer nude – the Tom Ford Lip Color Shine, in shade #05 Bare.

With Summer just around the corner and with this amazing selection of sheer lipsticks out there at the moment ( Dior, By Terry, Chanel, Lancôme… just to name a few big brands ), I find myself reaching more for this type of finish lately.

image

Bare is definitely a true nude beige shade, a sheer nude with gold and neutral shimmer particles that help brighten your complexion and give your lips a fuller, plumped look.

It glides on really smoothly and since it’s such a neutral colour it can be easily applied on the go, without a mirror. Because this is such a forgiving shade and formulation, and although precision is always nice, with these type of lipsticks I think precision is not necessary. So this one has been living inside my bag lately and I always take it out for rapid touch ups.

This goes on my lips as a nude but because of its sheerness and the pigmentation of my lips, it tends to change to a gorgeous, gorgeous nude-y, rosy, fabulous, everyday colour…

image

The Lip Color Shines by Tom Ford are by all means no new release. They came up at the beginning of 2013, in a selection of 10 lovely shades. I already owned, loved and used almost completely another Lip Shine, in #02 Smitten. And of course I already have a review on it here, with more details about its composition, colour range, and a lovely comparison with my other favourite sheer lipsticks, the Chanel Coco Shines.

With every Summer Collection Tom Ford changes the iconic packaging of these Lip Shines from mahogany and gold to a glorious and sensual ivory and gold, re-promoting old shades and adding new ones as well, in a Limited Edition to lust over… You will see a full review on this year’s Tom Ford Summer 2015 Soleil Collection Lip Color Shine Lipsticks later on my blog. [ Update: for the review on the Tom Ford Shines click here ]

What about you lovelies? Do you change your lipsticks with the seasons as well?

See you  soon, Beautiful!

Loving Nudes #6 Dior Addict Lipsticks #525 Vintage and #535 Tailleur Bar

I can’t allow a month to go by without a post on some lovely nudes, right?!

This time I have some good old Dior Addict Lipsticks to show you. The shades are #525 Vintage and #535 Tailleur Bar. These are some oldies but definitely goodies!

Dior made these lipstick back in 2011 with Lip Neutralizer™, a technology inspired by the makeup artists backstage at fashion shows, who before putting lipstick on the models, apply a light base of foundation to neutralize the natural colour of the lips to ensure the lipsticks’ true colour it’s sown at its true potential on the lips.

This is a new, high-shine lipstick formula with a lightweight, ultra-fine texture that glides on easily. Contains 25% less wax than a classic lipstick and they’re made with an innovative reflecting gel ( these are the technical deets! ). The effect lays in such a subtle transparency and magnifying glass effect which enhance shine, volume and color. They also manage to deliver intense moisture to plump lips and give brilliance, glamor and luster at the same time.

The shades are fairly sheer, but their true colour and shine really show when they are layered over a lip pencil and/or lipstick as you can see it features in another post I wrote a while ago. Link here!

image

#525 Vintage is a brown shade with mauve undertones and a pure finish, just a subtle shine, and a little “plumping”. On the other hand, #535 Tailleur Bar is a sheer, muted mauve less purple than Vintage, with shimmering highlights. Both shades were designed to go perfectly with any mood and with any fashion look, from timeless classic to cutting-edge trendy.

image – the swatch above is #525 Vintage, the other one is #535 Tailleur Bar

In one swipe they go on as sheer as to be fairly similar to the lips. In the picture above you can see them heavily swatched, to see them at their full potential.

What everyone call “my-lips-but-better”, you can find in these two lipsticks! Being so moisturizing the lasting power isn’t the greatest but they’re so easy to wear, so easy to apply – even if you’re on the go and again so, so moisturizing on the lips!…

Amazing, everyday options – if you ask me, and I definitely recommend them, even after all these years!

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie

Loving Nudes #5: CHARLOTTE TILBURY’s Confession, Stoned Rose and the infamous Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk

Not a month passing by without talking about my gorgeous nude discoveries!

My latest ones are part of the Charlotte Tilbury‘s K.I.S.S.I.N.G Fallen From The Lip Stick Tree signature lipstick range which was inspired by modern icons like Kate Moss, Cara Delevigne, Adriana Lima etc.

image

Confession is a new, limited edition lipstick that came out in fall, last year as part of Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Holiday makeup collection. It’s a dusky, tawny, nude; a muted warm pink with slight hints of peach, enriched with subtle gold particles which will give this shade a particular festive vibe, making it special compared with the other nudes of the range.

image

image – detail Confession

Thanks to the amazing ingredients the lipstick it’s easy to apply, the coverage is almost opaque and it feels lightweight on the lips. It really feels cashmere soft and hydrating as well!

Stoned Rose is more of a warm, modest pink-brown shade, very natural and soft on my pigmented lips if applied in one swipe, and with some more character if intensified with another application.

image

image – detail Stoned Rose

With the same formula as Confession, Stoned Rose feels also very smooth on the lips, it’s not drying at all, it applies evenly and it doesn’t “gather” in the creases of my lips.

image

How I like to wear these two colours is mainly applied over the “infamous” Charlotte Tilbury‘s Lip Cheat Re-Shape & Re-Size Lip Liner in Pillow Talk, an amazing my lips but better lip liner, so creamy, easy to apply, non-drying at all and so, so long-lasting.

image – detail Pillow Talk

Have you tried the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Fallen from The Lipstick Tree collection lipsticks yet? What about the Lip Cheat lip liners?

See you soon, Beautiful!

Loving Nudes #4 – DIOR Rouge Dior Nude Blush lipstick in #459 Charnelle

#loving nudes, dior, Dior Charnelle, Dior Ruge Dior Nude #459 Charnelle, limited edition, nude lipstick, review, swatches

A touch of colour is all it takes to change your appearance.

Christian Dior

 image

In my opinion, a nude lip can also be the very essence of a sexy and determined woman, the same way a red lip will always make you feel sexy and powerful. No wonder the nude lip has been the signature lip of beautiful icons like Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez or Angelina Jolie…

But the concept of “nude” does not end with a flawless complexion. To compliment the perfect natural glow, the right lipstick is also a must… A must balance between the right colour and your skin tone, in order to avoid the “too tired” or the “too pale” effect.

image

To help us with that, Dior launched almost three years ago a collection of lipsticks that take nude To the next level. A collection of eight radiant lip-blush shades, which instantly hydrate, plump and smooth your lips for a classy and timeless finish.

Not all the shades will be universally flattering and from all the Dior Nude Blush Lipsticks shades I have tried on, the one I think it’s the most appropriate for my skin tone and the pigment in my lips, is the #459 Charnelle. There’s also the iconic Grège, but this one goes a bit too much into beige territory for my liking. A gorgeous nude nonetheless!

image

Charnelle is the perfect soft nude shade with peachy pink undertones, which looks just like my natural lip color, only better. It has a warmth to it that makes it ideal for so many skin tones. It also has a sheerness to it which confers a soft, elegant, subtle touch to your entire look whether you are using it for a subtle day look or you’re using it as a final touch for an important dinner. It will enhance your natural lip colour adding a dash of pigment to it… A highlighting blush for the lips!

It looks very natural on the lips, a very wearable nude. The translucent pigment  makes it that much easier to wear! Comfortable and hydrating on the lips, the Rouge Dior voluptuous care formula is enriched with criste marine extract, smoothing and reshaping the lips, maximizing in the most natural way the expression of each nuance in your lips…

Because Dior believes in: “Couture Colour” and  “Voluptuous Care“!

image

Though not the most long-lasting lipstick you’ll ever try, it’s such a pleasure to take it out of your bag and re-apply it on any occasion because of the classy, iconic, quilted packaging which makes it a beauty and style accessory, by itself!

And if you just started your quest for the “perfect nude lipstick” the Dior Nude Blush lipstick range is a great starting point…

For other suggestions make sure you check my other nude loves: Tom Ford, Burberry, Givenchy… And make sure you follow annie’s beauty… because I have some new Charlotte Tilbury propositions for you, I’m sure you won’t be able to say no to!…

See you soon, Beautiful!

xx, Annie

Loving Nudes #3 – BURBERRY Lip Mist #212 Nude Peach and Lip Cover #24 Romantic Rose

#212 Nude Peach, #24 Romantic Rose, #loving nudes, Burberry, Givenchy, Lip Mist, matte Lipstick, nude lipstick, review, sheer lipstick, swatches, Tom Ford

Today I’m so excited to talk about my Burberry nudes. I’m already at Part 3 of my Loving Nudes Series ( read Loving Nudes #1- Givenchy here and Loving Nudes #2 – Tom Ford here ).

image

Launched as a part of the Burberry Fall 2011 Collection, the beautiful Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick in #24 Romantic Rose falls, as the pretty name suggests, in the category of “easily wearable nudes” with no shimmers – almost matte looking but with a silky, satin finish. It’s a warm pale nude, with not many of those rosy undertones the misleading name might suggest. To be more descriptive, I think it has the undertones of the yellow and caramel leaves, in Autumn with minimal pink hues. Not a colour I am drawn to in the first place!

However, I like how effortlessly this lipstick glides on while depositing an even amount of colour on the lips, in a single pass.

Thanks to the lightweight combination of nourishing oils and gel dispersed pigment they ensure intense moisture and long lasting colour.

This particular shade lasts for about 4 hours on me. The darker shades, like my Lip Cover in #33 Oxblood ( read about it with pictures and swatches here ) tend to last longer on my lips, but they take a lot more effort to put on, when Nude Peach “is a good to keep in your purse” color, universal enough to go with almost anything.

Overall, Burberry offer for the Lip Covers a great selection of neutral, easy to wear shades with some more classic reds thrown in.

Worn by themselves the Lip Covers add a touch of radiance to the lips, but worn under the Lip Glow (Natural Lip Gloss) they are the perfect glossy combination, absolutely lovely in colour and texture.

image – left swatch: Burberry Lip Cover #24 Romantic Rose , right swatch: Lip Mist #212 Nude Peach, daylight

A good dupe for Romantic Rose is another Burberry lipstick with a different formula but very similar colour, a Lip Mist in #212 Nude Peach.

First, the formula: the Burberry Lip Mists Natural Sheer Lipsticks are the sheer counterparts to Lip Covers and give the most effortless sheer illuminating finish, with a subtle hint of colour. The Lip Mist is Burberry’s version of a gloss/lipstick hybrid and offers more of a sheer pigmentation than the Lip Cover range, adding more of a satin finish to the lips. They contain moisturising emollients and wild rose extract for long-lasting hydration and protection.

#212 Nude Peach is a brown nude with a light hint of peach. Again, a little different to what I’m used to, but flattering nonetheless, plus it gets major props for being so moisturising and glossy.

Often compared to Chanel‘s Rouge Coco Shine, YSL‘s Sheers and lately with the new Dior Balm Rouges, I think that the Lip Mists are thicker and more gel-like, which makes them last longer than any of those named above. I have never a had sheer, glossy lipstick to last as well through a cup of tea as this one.

On my lips they swatch like this:

image – Burberry Lip Cover #24 Romantic Rose

image – Burberry Lip Mist #212 Nude Peach

Being sheerer, the Nude Peach Lip Mist shows on my lips a little bit more rosy than the Lip Cover in Romantic Rose, and that’s simply because of my naturally pigmented lips.

Overall, Burberry makeup is absolutely top notch quality. Love every shade of their lipsticks, without exception!… Love the satisfying magnetic closure of the luxurious packaging and the check embossing!… The moisture-rich formula!… The right amount of pigment and the smooth finish… Not even the often called granny-ish rose scent bothers me anymore!

But that’s me! How about you? Have you tried any Burberry lip products? Please share!

See you soon, Beautiful!

xx, Annie

Loving Nudes #2 TOM FORD Lip Colors #07 Pink Dusk and #13 Blush Nude – All kind of gorgeous nudes…

Episode #2 of Loving Nudes coming your way!

This time we’re talking about one of the most luxurious brands in my entire makeup collection: Tom Ford. Need I say more?! Sorry, I have to!

photo 5 copy

Tom Ford lipsticks have one of the most comfortable formulas on your lips. They wear amazingly in all seasons, wether is cold or hot… The pigmentation is unbelievable and the application so easy that it isn’t a problem to retouch your lipstick in your car waiting for the green light… like the Lady you are, of course!

Plus, just have a look at that amazingly luxurious packaging! That beautiful mahogany and gold TF iconic packaging which gives you confidence only by looking at it!…

Can you tell I love Tom Ford, can’t you?!

photo 4 copy

As you may already discovered from reading my posts, the first colours I pick from a new ( to me ) lipstick brand are the nudes then the reds. I think a nude lipstick is the most difficult one to make it work, to make it last, to make you feel good wearing it… And if a good nude does the job… Then that is a win!

My two nudes picks from Tom Ford are from the Lip Color range and they are the #07 Pink Dusk and a glorious #13 Blush Nude. Two different types of nudes but equally amazing!

photo 2 copy

In the picture above you can see #07 Pink Dusk. In my opinion Pink dusk is a toned-down pink with a tinge of nude/beige to it. Very subtle on my lips, it does not wash me out like most nudes do. It is not quite the stereotypical pink-ish nude you would expect but more of a pale pink.

photo 1 copy

While Pink Dusk is the pink lipstick with nude/beige undertones, #13 Blush Nude is the opposite. Closer to what I can describe as a proper nude, what makes this lipstick wearable is the amount of warm, pink undertones in it. It is not that kind of ” in-your-face-nude “, and there are less chances to wash you out.

photo 3 copy

  • first swatch is #13 Blush Nude and the second is #07 Pink Dusk

photo 6 copy

  • first lip swatch is #07 Pink Dusk and the second is #13 Blush Nude

Look how different these two nudes swatch on my arm and on my lips! Pay attention especially to Blush Nude! It’s definitely more nude on my lips than on my arm! And let me tell you that my lips are really pigmented! Good thing these lipsticks are so opaque that their colour is not altered!

Please don’t leave before letting me know what are the best nudes for you!

I’m sorry if this post is a bit chatty and less “informative/professional” but, after all, today was a great day for me! And I hope you had a great one too!

See you soon, Beautiful!

xx, Annie

Loving Nudes #1- Givenchy Le Rouge #102 Beige Plume and #103 Brun Createur

#102 Beige Plume, #103 Brun Createur, #loving nudes, Givenchy, Givenchy Le Rouge, nude lipstick, review, swatches

I absolutely ADORE my nudes! That is why I decided to write a mini series dedicated to all my favourites ( NOT all the nudes in my collection do not worry!), structured by my favourite brands.

This post is dedicated to my amazing Givenchy Le Rouge‘s. I always bust them out during this period as they are the “darkest” nudes in my collection, and so close to the beautiful Autum colours.

IMG_0335 copy

There is no simple way to describe how gorgeous Givenchy Le Rouge lipsticks are! They are amazing starting with their leather case packaging, followed by how creamy and moisturizing their formula is and how long-lasting they are!

I fell in love with this lipstick! It is not drying, so opaque and you will get intensly pigmented colours on your lips with only one swipe! It also delivers a semimatte finish, all in one stroke. I never thought that I would ever say something like this about a makeup item, but Givenchy Le Rouge is my most sensual looking/feeling lipstick, and it is the only lipstick I own ( and know ) that comes in a genuine leather packaging.

Is the real leather unnecessary? Absolutely! But as the lipstick obsesed/hoarder/lover that I am, the effort Givenchy put into creating this lipstick is much appreciated! And, luckily, the formulation is one of the best I have ever tried!

I think that even if the formulation was not great, it would still had been a beautiful “collector item”, as it looks amazing on any vanity!

My first Givenchy Le Rouge nude I bought was #102 Beige Plume, a light-medium beige; more of a peachy-beige lipstick with warm coraly undertones which delivers a natural finish on my lips. It is so pigmented and the colour gives opaque coverage. There are no shimmers in this lipstick which makes it more wearable, in my opinion! The fact that it is so creamy makes it so easy to apply as the lipstick literally glides on your lips. An amazing experience, let me tell you!

My second choice was #103 Brun Createur. Brun Createur reminds me a lot of Burberry Lip Mist in #04 Rosewood, only that “mon” Givenchy Le Rouge is more matte. On my lips it shows up as a warm-tonned dusty rose, with the same luminous matte finish as Beige Plume.

It also applies flawlessly – opaque and with full on colour coverage, making the lips look smooth, full and plumped.

Both lipsticks are creamy, moisturizing and last on my lips for over four hours. They do not cling or accentuate any dry patches, on the contrary! They moisturize my lips helping them recover faster. They fade evenly and also did not transfered on my teeth or gathered in my lip crevases. There is no need to previously line your lips as these lipsticks do not “bleed”! I could not recommend them enough!

I literally cannot wait to share my other nudes with you! Next post of the mini series will be up next month!

Have a warm and sunny Autumn, Beautiful!

See you soon!

xx, Annie
