The NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush is one brush I’ve been on a hunt for for the longest time. I was so, so intrigued and enticed by all those good things this brush promissed and all the positive reviews I kept reading online were’t helping, for sure!… The only downside to this story was that I have no NARS counter closer than 2000 km ( give or take some! ), which is in Milan to be more precise. And all my usual sites where I get my beauty products, didn’t stocked the Yachiyo either.
But then I discovered NARS’ European website, that obviously shipps to all European countries, mine included. AND THEY HAD IT IN STOCK! So now it’s mine and I don’t think I will ever need another face brush!… Bold statement there, right?!
When I first opened it I was completely mesmerized by the design of this lovely brush. An all-black, elegant design combined with traditional Japanese elements – the handspun wisteria handle, which reminds you of the unique-ness and the amazing quality of the brushes used by the artists of the traditional Japanese theatre, Kabuki to paint their faces.
Good looks aside, I started using it… I was expecting it to be “a multifunctional makeup brush”, “part of a comprehensive collection of exquisitely designed makeup tools for precision application”… And so it was! Actually, it went far beyond all my highest expectations!
It is made with high-quality goat hair bristles that pick up and deposit the right amount of color every time. It has the perfect shape and the right density which makes it ideal for defining cheekbones and highlighting the complexion. The slightly tapered tip helps give a flawless contour to any face shape and also blends and diffuses effortlessly color on or around the eye area.
I found that it works the best with my absolute favourite face products – the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders and Blushes, which I use every single day religiously, for a flawless look that lasts all day long.
I haven’t experienced major hair fall-outs with my Yachiyo brush, but then again, I’m pretty careful and gentle with all my makeup brushes when I use them, when I wash them ( – process that, although I do find it pretty unpleasant, I do my best to do it at least once a week! ), where and how I store them… Because they’re great investments that I hope they’ll last me forever!…
You can see a couple of looks I achieved using this brush here, here, here, here and even more on my Instagram account – here!
Have you tried this brush or any of the NARS Kabuki line? What else should I get? Do you know a good dupe for this one?
Thanks for reading, Beautiful and, as always…
See you again soo!
xx, Annie
