Since I can finally say that I can see major signs of Spring after such a long Winter, I thought I’d do a Favourites post!

Now, I’m not the one to do these kind of posts on a regular basis, mainly because once I discover a product that I really love and I know it works for me, I totally stick to it for the longest time. So a monthly makeup favourites, or skincare favourites would be kind of repetitive and unnecessary. Plus to form a decent opinion on a new product, especially with skincare, it might take a lot more than one month.

But this past couple of months I’ve tested a good few new products that instantly stole my heart and made it to my Favourites…

Here you have my absolute Seasonal Favourites for the Winter of 2014-2015:

– festive red listick was THE thing for me this winter. I particularly loved these Tom Ford shades – Crimson Noir ( permanent ) and Alejandro, from the Lips&Boys Collection. I also loved the iconic Dior Rouge 999, the orange-reds Estée Lauder Pure Colour Envy in shade Impassioned and Wild Ginger also from the Tom Ford permanent line and the Burberry Lip Cover in #18 Ruby. Later on I’ve discovered the new, reformulated Chanel Rouge Coco in Arthur, which made me dig out it’s matte correspondent, the Tom Ford ( again! ) Flame.

– for skincare, I don’t change it too much, I’m only adjusting it to the needs of my sensitive skin. But the products I loved the most were the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm Anti-Ageing, the Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator, the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser which I like to use combined with the Diptyque Radiance Boosting Powder for a deeper cleanse, my holy grail mask – the Oskia Rainessance Nutri-Active Brightening & Resurfacing Mask and the new addition, the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel Mask and of course, my beloved Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist. Mostly cleansing products now that I take a closer look! No wonder though! because I firmly believe that a clean skin is a good, healthy skin. And a flawless “canvas” also means an easier makeup application, with less products! I also have to mention my hands and lips saviours this Winter: the By Terry Baume de Rose and the Laura Mercier delicious gourmet hand creams.

– my favourite Winter home scent for the past two years has been this Byredo Bibliothèque Fragranced Candle. I can’t even tell you how much I love this candle and how many I have burnt down. This year I went for something different, something more smokey and warm, with comforting notes of patchouli, birch tar and guaiac wood – the Burberry Smokey Embers Fragranced Candle. It’s the perfect candle to “recreate the mood of an English fireside afternoon”, as they say on their website. Definitely give this one a sniff if you’re in a Burberry store.

– for fashion items I absolutely lived in my Smiling Shoes heels! You might think that I went bananas, especially if you know what winters are like in Continental Excessive Climates, but stay assured I still had boots on for walking outside, in the snow. But for work and going out, and winter parties these shoes never left my feet!

– for random favourites, I really got into tea which I think it warmed my body as well as my soul. I particularly loved the combination of strong, aromatic tea ( mostly from the Teapigs company ) and coconut milk.

Also my love for clementines went to another level of obsession, and I always found myself munching on them and these Milka cookies…

And I totally hated 50 Shades of Grey – simply because I can’t get excited about someone else’s sexual fantasies… No offense!

I hope you enjoyed my favourite things for the Winter months and please be kind and share yours!

Also, should I make this Seasonal Favourites a regular entry on my blog? What do you think?

See you soon, beautiful!

xx, Annie

I promissed that my next skin care item that will receive a review here on annie’s beauty…, will be this Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Face Mist, a product that is part of my skincare routine for over a year now. I went through several bottles – that good it is!

But what is this magical product?

The Queen of Hungary Mist is one of the Omorovicza Budapest best selling product, along with the Thermal Cleansing Balm, and also very hyped product in the beauty community. Read more about the brand and the reviews on a couple of Omorovicza products, here ). It’s a gentle, aromatic toner for a hydrating energizing burst of energy for your skin when needed. It purifies and tones while providing lasting hydration and restoring suppleness to your complexion. It basically is a neroli and rose-scented water infusion you can use as a second step ( after double or triple cleansing – for some of us, of course ) in your skincare routine, but you can also spritz it anytime you want to refresh yourself or your makeup.

I always make sure to bring with me in my hand luggage when I’m flying, any kind of face mist ( actually I can’t live without face mists and/or micellair waters, since for me they even replace the harsh, drying tap water… Read more about my favourites and how I use them, in this post here ) and the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Face Mist is always my first choice and the best I’ve used this far! Even if the flight isn’t too long, my skin feels the dryness of the air conditioner from the plane. So I take this out… Pouf! Pouf!… And it refreshes and hydrates my face in a second! I am sure that it helped me reduce the stress of the flight too, so for longer flights I think it would come handy!

image – one gone, one more to go!

It comes in a very luxurious feeling and looking 100 ml matte glass bottle, with a convenient spritzer.

A beautiful product – super luxurious and heavenly smelling!

Have you tried the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Face Mist yet, beautiful? Do you have a personal favourite  face mist/micellair water? Please share your secrets in the Comment section below.

See you soon! xx, Annie

Refresh your makeup for Spring – Bring “the glow” back on!

Balance Me Eye Cream, Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow #22 Pale Barley, By Terry Baume de Rose, Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt & Highlight, Dior Addict Lip Glow Colour Reviver Balm, DIOR DIORSKIN AIR NUDE HEALTHY GLOW ULTRA-FLUID Foundation, Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator, Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm Anti-Ageing, Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm Anti-Ageing, First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, Guerlain Météorites Compact Light-Revealing Powder #4 Doré, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette, Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate, NARS Eyeshadow Duo Alhambra, Omorovicza Complexion Corrector SPF20, Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist, Tom Ford Lip Colour Shine #05 Bare

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a good while now because this is the time of the year when I feel my skin is suffering the most from dryness, dullness and irritations due to all those “goodies” I’ve treated myself to during the holidays but also the crisp and often windy transitional weather…

So, if  for whatever reason you suffer from lack-lustre skin as well, stay with me until the end of this post for some suggestions to repair that.

You might know by now that I’m all about that natural, glowing, healthy looking skin and the key to achieve that “canvas” is a good skincare routine. A good cleanser to get rid of all the impurities with an amazing toner over that, and THE moisturiser! You can never have enough of that during this time of the year!…

image

My favourites at the moment:

– Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm Anti-Ageing doubled by a gentle exfoliator like this one also from Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator ( both recently reviewed here )

– Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Face Mist

– Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate ( already reviewed here )

– Balance Me Eye Cream

– First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

Skincare done, the most obvious for a healthy, glowing-looking skin is a simple yet effective makeup…

image

I love:

– to apply the Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm Anti-Ageing which has the correcting properties of a makeup product and doubles as a moisturizer as well ( what did I told you? Moisturiser is never enough this time of the year!!! ). I already spoke about this one in this post here. Before falling in love with this, I used almost every day even on my days when I didn’t put actual makeup on, my Omorovicza Complexion Corrector SPF20, previously reviewed here

– then to use a lightweight foundation, like the new release from Dior, the Diorskin Nude Air Serum Foundation; full review here

– then I go nuts with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette ( review here ) and, because that’s not enough glow for my liking I add a bit more with this amazing Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Palette ( review on that here )

– I might as well skip blush, but ever since I got this amazing Guerlain Météorites Pressed Powder in #4 Doré, there’s nothing else on mt cheeks but this one. I know what you’re going to say… “Hey Annie, that’s a highlighting powder as well! And it’s not the right shade for you!” Really?! Who said that you’re only meant to use a product only for what it says on the pan?! I especially bought it in the darkest colour to use it as a blusher/light bronzer and I’m so happy with my choice! I have a review on this coming soon. here.

– to keep my eyes simple with simple eyeshadow like the Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow in #22 Pale Barley, I have this one in the old formula and it’s still a favourite or the NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Alhambra ( review here )

– the lips sheer as well with an easy going shade like one of my sheer shades – my Tom Ford Lip Colour Shine in #05 Bare or simply a lip balm like the Dior Addict Lip Glow Colour Reviver Balm or my beloved By Terry Baume de Rose ( both previously reviewed here ).

image

The result is a fresh, healthy look easy to achieve and to be transformed from a day to night simply by adding a black eyeliner or by smoking the eye a bit and changing the lip colour with a more daring one like some of my favourite reds ( here and here… and here… and here… ) or a good nude ( review here ) or even a bold dark lip ( here ) if you feel like.

What do you do to refresh your makeup? How do you get ready for the warmer months?

See you soon, Beautiful!

xx, Annie
