How is is it possible for a shade of lipstick designed mainly to make your lips disappear to be so sensual and appealing at the same time?! This will be one of those paradoxes of the beauty world that I won’t be able to explain… Ever!

In today’s post I decided to take a break from all the bright, Spring appropriate lipsticks and go back to the basics with another nude… A nude with a twist this time… A sheer nude – the Tom Ford Lip Color Shine, in shade #05 Bare.

With Summer just around the corner and with this amazing selection of sheer lipsticks out there at the moment ( Dior, By Terry, Chanel, Lancôme… just to name a few big brands ), I find myself reaching more for this type of finish lately.

Bare is definitely a true nude beige shade, a sheer nude with gold and neutral shimmer particles that help brighten your complexion and give your lips a fuller, plumped look.

It glides on really smoothly and since it’s such a neutral colour it can be easily applied on the go, without a mirror. Because this is such a forgiving shade and formulation, and although precision is always nice, with these type of lipsticks I think precision is not necessary. So this one has been living inside my bag lately and I always take it out for rapid touch ups.

This goes on my lips as a nude but because of its sheerness and the pigmentation of my lips, it tends to change to a gorgeous, gorgeous nude-y, rosy, fabulous, everyday colour…

The Lip Color Shines by Tom Ford are by all means no new release. They came up at the beginning of 2013, in a selection of 10 lovely shades. I already owned, loved and used almost completely another Lip Shine, in #02 Smitten. And of course I already have a review on it here, with more details about its composition, colour range, and a lovely comparison with my other favourite sheer lipsticks, the Chanel Coco Shines.

With every Summer Collection Tom Ford changes the iconic packaging of these Lip Shines from mahogany and gold to a glorious and sensual ivory and gold, re-promoting old shades and adding new ones as well, in a Limited Edition to lust over… You will see a full review on this year’s Tom Ford Summer 2015 Soleil Collection Lip Color Shine Lipsticks later on my blog. What about you lovelies? Do you change your lipsticks with the seasons as well?

See you  soon, Beautiful!

xx, Annie
